Gianni Buttice is back with his final set of FPL tips as the competition heads into Gameweek 38 – as he helps players navigate through the final game week before the end-of-season Fantasy Football points are totted-up.

FPL Tips For Gameweek 38: Why Newcastle United Players Should Be On Your Radar

More FPL managers should be buying Newcastle players in Gameweek 38, says Gianni Buttice.

There are some obvious teams to target this week, and many are rightly looking to bring in Arsenal and Bournemouth players because they have excellent match ups this week against relegated teams.

Likewise, Aston Villa and Brighton play the two Europa League finalists, and this is clearly a brilliant time to be taking on Manchester United and Spurs. With the last-named also having the Tottenham Trophy parade on Friday – just two days before this clash.

Both Villa and Brighton are chasing European football of their own next week and ‘the carrot’ here makes their players good FPL options too this week.

I do wonder however if Newcastle is perhaps the best team to invest in this week?

St James’ Park creates a special atmosphere and here are three reasons why I like this match up more than the rest:

1) A win against Everton guarantees Champions League football and unlike Brighton and Aston Villa, Newcastle not only play at home on the final day but know their destiny is in their hands.

Having had a taste of Champions League football two seasons ago, Eddie Howe and The Board will likely have demanded nothing less than a Top 5 finish as a season target.

2) Everton have some key injuries at the back with first choice centre backs James Tarkowski out and Jarrad Branthwaite highly doubtful.

The Toffees had their last hurrah at Goodison Park a week ago and it will surely feel like, with very little to play for their season ended in Gameweek 37.

3) Newcastle’s recent form has been outstanding and their EFL Cup win shows they’re a team on the up who see themselves amongst the league’s elite.

Even though they lost to Arsenal last time out, they played well and created higher XG than their opponents at the Emirates, something very few teams manage to do.

Eddie Howe’s men have momentum and they’re consistently putting up good attacking numbers.

FPL Tips In Gameweek 38 Point To Buying Newcastle United Players

Alexander Isak was sold by lots of mangers last week but is a great captaincy option this time round if you’re confident of a start.

I would be surprised if he doesn’t start knowing the importance of the fixture and I expect he wasn’t risked versus Arsenal to ensure he’s fit enough to play on Sunday.

Anthony Gordon has looked bright since his return to the team and will feel he has a point to prove after missing the EFL Cup final and a lot of success Newcastle have had this season without him.

Likewise, Harvey Barnes on the opposite flank of what will likely be a 3-4-3 is always a fun own, we like greedy players in FPL and Barnes always looks to shoot.

Both wide men are lowly owned and are great differentials for the final day, I’m tempted to bring Gordon in and captain him against his former club. Newcastle also tops the list for clean sheet odds from the bookmakers and Livramento, playing as a wing back is arguably the best defender in the game to buy this week.

He somehow only has one goal involvement in the league this season but attacking returns feel like they’re due with good underlying statistics showing he has been unfortunate not to more.
