Hall of Fame British boxing promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that his undefeated star Hamzah Sheeraz will officially move up to super-middleweight.

Hamzah Sheeraz Set For Super-Middleweight Move

Legendary British boxing promoter Frank Warren has revealed that his unbeaten superstar Hamzah Sheeraz will officially move up in weight to pastures new at 168-pounds.

It seems that Hamzah Sheeraz is now plotting an assault on the super-middleweight division going forward. This comes after his controversial draw with Carlos Adames on the Dmitry Bivol 2 undercard.

Adames retained his WBC World Middleweight Title in what was Sheeraz’s first shot at world honours, but neither man won the fight.

After 12 rounds of boxing the bout was deemed a split draw. One judge had Sheeraz winning 115-114, one had Adames winning 118-110 whilst the third judge scored it 114-114.

Many fans felt that Sheeraz was incredibly fortunate to get away with a draw, with the vast majority of people, including his own promoter, itting that he probably got beaten.

Sheeraz was a big pre-fight favourite with the best UK boxing betting sites to become world champion at the first time of asking. However, he came unstuck against Adames who himself showed he could be one of the best middleweights in the world.

Frank Warren: ‘I Don’t Know How He Did The Weight’

There is no debating that a move up to super-middleweight could massively benefit Hamzah Sheeraz. At 6″3 he will still be a huge 168-pounder, never mind when he boxed at 160-pounds.

Sheeraz’s promoter Frank Warren feels that a move up in weight will massively benefit the 21-0-1 unbeaten British fighter, insisting that the best is still yet to come from his man:

“It was killing him to make middleweight and that was part of the problem. You’ve only got to look at his height to see that. I don’t know how he did the weight, he is just getting bigger and bigger. So he will move up now.

“On the night, I think the weight was a problem for him and then his hand too. It just wasn’t all there for him. He was very fortunate to get the draw but now we move on. He was dead at the weight so how he managed to still box like that in the last few rounds I’ll never know,” revealed Warren in a recent interview with The Ring Magazine.

It remains unknown when Sheeraz will make his 168-pound debut, but it will likely come in the summer. Opponent wise there are several fights that could make sense for the 25-year-old going forward.

One of his potential opponents could be Callum Simpson, who himself is looking to move up to world level. This would be a cracking main event for a summer show in the UK, and one that the best sports betting apps would find tricky to call a winner.
