With over 17 years of FPL experience, 14 top 50k finishes, and four top 1k finishes, you’re in safe hands. This week, FPL Salah discusses the best forwards to invest in this gameweek. With only three gameweeks of the season left, picking the right one is going to be vital if you want to finish off the season well.
Whether you’re an FPL veteran or aiming for your best rank yet, having a strong finish to the season is always good.
Here I will present my top three forwards to buy from now until the end of the season. Let’s dive in.
FPL Gameweek 36 Tips: FPL Salah’s Top Three Forwards
Chris Wood (£7.0m) – Nottingham Forest
Fixtures: Leicester City (H)
Chris Wood has only scored one goal in his last eight games, but he has still had a great season with 19 goals and three assists.
Also, Nottingham Forest have possibly their best fixture of the season as they host Leicester City in Gameweek 36.
Forest will be massive favourites for this one and are sure to score a few at least.
They are also chasing Champions League football for next season, and with recent results will see this game as a must win.
Wood will no doubt get plenty of chances against the Foxes. They have conceded the second most goals (76) and also have the third worst xGC (expected goals conceded; 68.5).
The New Zealand international is the talisman for his side and the first-choice penalty taker.
He is the second favourite to score at anytime this week (50%), and with decent fixtures in his last two games against West Ham (A) and Chelsea (H), he is a fine option.
Yoane Wissa (£6.6m) – Brentford
Fixtures: Ipswich Town (A)
Yoane Wissa is enjoying his best ever season, having netted 17 goals and creating five assists.
Brentford come up against already relegated Ipswich, and with European football possible next season for Thomas Frank’s side, they will be highly motivated.
Ipswich have conceded 76 goals (second most) with an xGC of 69.4 (second-worst).
Brentford are a good attacking side and are likely to put Kieran McKenna’s side to the sword this weekend.
Wissa plays as the number nine, so he is the one to whom the majority of chances are going to fall.
His minutes are also secure as they come, as he’s played the full 90 minutes in every game since Gameweek 20.
He is also at a healthy 43% to score at any time in Gameweek 36.
With the form Wissa is in and his last three games reading; Ipswich (a), Fulham (H) and Wolves (a), I wouldn’t be surprised if he is the highest-scoring forward overall during this period.
Matheus Cunha (£7.1m) – Wolves
Fixtures: Brighton (H)
Matheus Cunha has been a figure of controversy this season, but when he’s on the pitch, the Brazilian has always performed.
He has 15 goals and seven assists in only 27 starts, and he will no doubt add to those tallies over the next three.
Wolves play Brighton at home in Gameweek 36 and then travel to Crystal Palace (A) in Gameweek 37, which is three days after their FA Cup final, so Oliver Glasner’s side are likely to play a rotated side.
Their final fixture is against Brentford (H), which is another good fixture from an attacking point of view.
This week is a great entry point for Cunha with a kind home game. Brighton have conceded the sixth-most goals (56) with an xGC of 48.5 (ninth), so they do concede a fair amount of chances.
Cunha has both goals and assists in his locker, and he is also a bonus point magnet. He has 41 bonus points in total this season, which is the highest amongst forwards and second overall.
He is an all-round forward who is also on set piece,s so the 25-year-old has many avenues to points. There is also a good chance he is on penalties too.
