This week, FPL Salah will be presenting his FPL tips that include which chip you should play in the first double gameweek of the season.

FPL Gameweek 24 Tips: Best Chip To Use In DGW24

If You Still Have The Triple Captain Chip:

If you still have your Triple Captain, I would much rather play it in Double Gameweek 24 over the Assistant Manager.

We are likely to get a better opportunity to use the Assistant Manager chip later in the season. We have two more double gameweeks at least, in Gameweek 33 and 36.

Arne Slot seems like a popular manager this week, and I can see why managers are going there with the double gameweek for him but, there is limited upside in that move in my opinion.

As we know, if you play your AM chip on a manager against a team that is ranked five places above you, then you get an extra 10 points for a win and five for a draw.

Assistant Manager chips points matrix for reference:

  • Team win = 6 points
  • Team draw = 3 points
  • Goals = 1 point per goal scored
  • Clean sheet = 2 points
  • Table bonus = Extra 10 points for a win or an extra five points for a draw versus a team five places higher in the table.

With Liverpool top of the league, they of course won’t get that bonus opportunity. Although this method has a higher floor, the ceiling isn’t too great, and I would prefer to take my chances later on in the season as new opportunities emerge.

Liverpool don’t have the easiest of doubles as they take on high-flying Bournemouth and a fairly good Everton defence, both away from home.

However, they are still the best team in the league and also the best attack. They have scored the most goals (54) and also have the best xG (expected goals; 51.4) despite playing a game less.

They also happen to have the best player and FPL asset in the league in Mohamed Salah (£13.7m), who has 19 goals and 13 assists. Therefore, despite the tough fixture, I doubt we get a better chance at using the Triple Captain.

He is nailed to start, on penalties, can score and assist and is in the form of his life. The Egyptian can haul in any game.

Also, with his two games in Double Gameweek 24 being so far apart (11 days), he is sure to play 90 minutes in both.

Already Used Your Triple Captain?

If you have already used your Triple Captain, then it is much more justifiable to use your AM chip this week.

However, I still think saving is the better option, as it’s likely we get a better chance to use it in the later double gameweeks.

If you are content on playing it this week though, then I would be tempted to play it on David Moyes initially.

Everton have a good game against Leicester, and of course, the Liverpool match is as tough as they come, but if they manage to pull off even a draw here and beat Leicester, then you can get a huge haul.

For example, Moyes scored 19 points against Brighton last gameweek with the 1-0 win. It’s a high-risk, high-reward strategy. He got the win bonus (6 points), plus the extra win bonus (10 points) for beating a team ranked five places or above, keeping a clean sheet (2 points) and scoring one goal (1 point).

You could then move to Marco Silva of Fulham in Gameweek 25, who play Nottingham Forest at home. As good as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been this season, last week’s 5-0 drubbing showed they are beatable, and this should be a closely contested match. You also, of course, have a chance of the extra bonus points, as Forest are placed third and Fulham are 10th.

For Gameweek 26 you can go two ways – play safe in a ‘banker game’ like Arsenal at home to West Ham or go for another bonus game. I think the best bet for a bonus game in Gameweek 26 is Leicester City at home to Brentford.

Thomas Frank’s team haven’t been great away from home this season (W2, D2, L7), and although Leicester are one of the poorest teams in the league, this will be a game in which they will fancy themselves.

Any Other Chips Worth Using?

I wouldn’t consider playing the Bench Boost or Free Hit at all for Double Gameweek 24.

We will get bigger double gameweeks in 33 and 36, where the Bench Boost or Free Hit will be better suited.

We also have two blank gameweeks predicted in Gameweek 29 and Gameweek 34, so the Free Hit chip can also be used in one of them.
