This week, FPL Salah will be presenting his FPL tips that include captaincy options outside of Mohamed Salah (£13.7m).

Liverpool play Manchester City (A) in Gameweek 26, and although this isn’t as tough a game as it looks on paper, it still does present us with an opportunity to bet against the Egyptian for the captain’s armband.

Here we will look at the three best captaincy options not named Salah!

FPL Captain Picks for Gameweek 26

Alexander Isak (£9.5m) – Newcastle United

Fixture: Nottingham Forest (H)

Alexander Isak has had a great season thus far. The Swede has 17 goals and five assists with an xG (expected goals) of 14.1 and an xA (expected assists) of 3.1.

He has blanked in the last two fixtures, but he is still no doubt one of the best options in the game.

Newcastle United have a tough game on paper against Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 26, who have proven to be a resolute defence.

However, Eddie Howe’s team do have the home advantage and will be the favourites. They are the third favourites to score 2.5+ goals (31%).Isak is nailed to start on penalties and can score and assist.

The Swedish international is actually the favourite to score at any time in Gameweek 26, at 48%, therefore a decent captaincy option.

He is Newcastle’s talisman, and if they do score, he is likely to be involved in one way or another.

Bryan Mbeumo (£7.9m) – Brentford

Fixture: Leicester City (A)

Bryan Mbeumo has also had a good season to date, netting an impressive 14 goals and three assists. The Cameroon international has a great fixture in Gameweek 26 to add to those returns too.

Brentford play Leicester City, who sit second bottom right now. They have conceded the second-most goals (55) with an xGC (expected goals conceded) of 48.0 (third worst).

Thomas Frank’s side, on the other hand, have been great going forward – scoring 43 goals (seventh-most) with an xG of 39.91 (eighth-best).

Mbeumo is nailed to start, to play 90 minutes, and is on penalties too, so a fixture against one of the league’s worst sides means he is very much in contention for the captains armband.Brentford will be heavy favourites to win this tie and should score a few too.

Mbeumo is at 36% to score at any time and also has the assist threat too.

Cole Palmer (£11.2m) – Chelsea

Fixture: Aston Villa (A)

Cole Palmer owners will be frustrated with his returns lately. He has only one assist to his name in the last four, but over the season has 14 goals and eight assists.

He is still very much an FPL heavyweight and should not be underestimated. He can haul big in any game.

Chelsea take on Aston Villa in Gameweek 25, who aren’t having the best of seasons, and although Enzo Maresca’s team have struggled lately, they have proven over the season to be a potent attacking team.

They have scored 47 goals (fifth-most) with an xG of 48.51 (second-best) and Palmer is their talisman. He has the highest Goal Involvement (goals or assists) in his team at 47%.

The England international has a high goal and assist threat, is nailed to start and is on penalties.

He has been sold by over 520,000 FPL managers over the last three gameweeks, so his ownership is low, as it has been in a long while.

He is actually a bit of a differential now when it comes to captaincy so if you are looking at making up ground with a proven FPL asset, then he is a fine option.
