When Is The Best Time To Use The Triple Captain Chip?
Double Gameweek 32
Double Gameweek 32 presents a great opportunity to use the Triple Captain chip. Newcastle United and Crystal Palace both have a double gameweek, and on paper it looks like a fine time to use the chip on Alexander Isak (£9.5m).
The Toon host Manchester United (H) and Crystal Palace (H), while Oliver Glasner’s side travel to Manchester City (A) and Newcastle (A).
Isak has had a great season so far. He has 20 goals and five assists, and despite his blank last gameweek, he is still one of the best options for Double Gameweek 32.
Newcastle have good fixtures for attacking purposes, and Isak is the one most likely to get returns for his side.
He was a doubt going into the Leicester game but played 71 minutes, and Eddie Howe declared he was ”100% fit” and that he won’t have to be managed going forward.
With two home games, they should score a few over the double, and they are a side in great form too.
Isak is their talisman and is on penalties and is simply one of the best forwards in the league.
However, there is an argument to hold off due to the uncertainty with his minutes.
Calum Wilson (£6.9m) is fit, and although I don’t think he will take any starts off the Swede, he will eat into his minutes.
Also, we have another Double Gameweek in 33 and a possible double in Gameweek 36.
With Palace having two tough away games, I really don’t think it’s worth using the Triple Captain on any of their players when there are so many good alternatives.
Double Gameweek 33
Arsenal , Aston Villa, Manchester City and Crystal Palace double this week, so there are a few options you can opt for here too.
The asset that immediately sticks out here for the best captain is Bukayo Saka (£10.3m).
Arsenal come up against Ipswich (A) and Palace (H) in Double Gameweek 33, which is a great pair of fixtures on paper. However, with Saka coming off a three-month layoff, his expected minutes are still a bit uncertain.
The Ipswich game, which is the money fixture, is four days after their second leg against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final.
They then play Palace three days after Ipswich. So there is a chance he is benched in one of these games.
Omar Marmoush (£7.4m) is also an option. His minutes should be secure with Erling Haaland (£14.8m) out injured for a while.
However, the Everton fixture is a tough match, and City haven’t been at their best this season. The Toffees actually have the sixth-best defence in the league, looking at goals conceded and xGC (expected goals conceded).
The Egyptian also isn’t as reliable as Saka and Isak.
Villa and Palace also have tough games against Manchester City (A) and Arsenal (A), respectively. Ideally, when using the Triple Captain, you want two plum fixtures.
Possible Double Gameweek 36
It is predicted that we should get a double gameweek in 36. The two teams who reach the FA Cup final are expected to blank in Gameweek 37 (this is the FA Cup final weekend) and then have their fixtures moved to Gameweek 36, giving them a double.
We could have doubles for Palace, Man City, Villa, Bournemouth, Forest or Spurs, so there is another chance to play the Triple Captain here if you don’t fancy Gameweek 32 or 33.
However, although these predictions are likely, they are not concrete, so you are taking a bit of a risk waiting for this week.
These permutations are estimated by fixture guru Ben Crellin, who also correctly predicted where the doubles for Gameweek 33 would fall.
Here's an FPL schedule graphic showing the confirmed and potential Blank and Double Gameweek fixtures.
I've calculated the DGW36 percentages using the FA Cup SF odds and my assumption that GW37 postponements would have a 90% chance of moving to the midweek in GW36 and a 10%… pic.twitter.com/Zks0KZRshR

When Should You Use the Triple Captain Chip?
In conclusion, I think the safest route is to play it on Isak in Double Gameweek 32. Yes, there is the uncertainty with expected minutes due to Wilson, but his manager has said he is 100% fit and the fixtures are good. Plus, Newcastle are in good form right now
too.
The longer we wait, the more uncertain it gets, and there are also risks with Double Gameweek 33 and 36.
If you don’t fancy Isak, then Saka would be my early best bet for Double Gameweek 33, and if City get a double in Gameweek 36, then Marmoush looks great, as long as Haaland is still out.
Pep Guardiola’s team are likely to double against Southampton (A) and Bournemouth (H) in Gameweek 36 if they get to the FA Cup final.
