FPL Pingreen Eyes Fulham Forward vs Struggling Saints In His Top Gameweek 34 Tips

Pingreen returns with his latest set of FPL tips for Blank Gameweek 34 – this week outlining his top captaincy pick, as well as the best options for your defence, midfield and attack.
Hello FPL fans! My name is Pingreen, and I’m back to share my top picks for Gameweek 34 and beyond, right here on SportsCasting. I finished 700th in the world in 2022/23 and ranked 1,330th last season, so make sure you take my advice seriously.
Gameweek 34 is a blank week for the four sides that had a Double last week – Aston Villa, Man City, Crystal Palace, and Arsenal. But you knew that and have planned well enough to still field a full eleven players, right?
FPL Pingreen Gameweek 34 Tips
Captain Pick – Mohamed Salah – £13.8m – TOT (H)
After months of speculation, on April 10th Mohamed Salah finally put pen to paper and committed to a new two-year contract with Liverpool. However delighted the Egyptian was with the hefty new deal, I’m sure he’s even more pleased to hear he’s my captain for Gameweek 34.
I don’t think the captaincy debate is particularly close this week. Salah has ed a whopping 45 goal contributions this season while averaging 1.1 xGI per 90 – making it impossible for Liverpool’s brain trust not to fork out for that new contract. He’s now up to 18 assists, just two shy of the Premier League record of 20, currently shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. With five games still to go, you know he’s gunning for that record.
On Sunday, Salah and Liverpool host a Tottenham side currently sitting 17th in the table. Liverpool lifting the Premier League trophy has felt like a foregone conclusion for a while now, but a win on Sunday would mathematically seal the deal. I expect the Reds, and their talisman Salah, to come out firing.
Defender – Kieran Trippier – £5.6m – IPS (H)
Once an essential pick for your defence, it looked earlier in the season like Kieran Trippier’s time as a relevant Fantasy Football asset might be over.
But when Lewis Hall picked up a foot injury in early March, ruling him out for the season, Trippier was back in Newcastle’s starting XI regularly. Many FPL managers looked his way in Gameweek 32 when the Magpies had a Double, and were rewarded with 12 points and an assist—proof that the 34-year-old right-back still has gas in the tank.
This weekend, Trippier and Newcastle host an Ipswich Town side whose relegation will likely be confirmed before the weekend is over. One of the many reasons the Tractor Boys are heading back down to the Championship is their lack of goal threat. Their 0.92 xG per 90 ranks bottom three in the division. That’s why Newcastle widely hold the best odds for a clean sheet this weekend, making Kieran Trippier a fantastic option for your FPL defence.
Midfielder – Luis Díaz – £7.5m – TOT (H)
I’ve already made Mohamed Salah my captain pick—but I’m so confident Liverpool will kick off their title celebrations against Spurs on Sunday that I’m doubling up and also picking Luis Díaz as my midfielder of the week.
The Colombian has flown a little under the radar this season—perhaps due to the otherworldly numbers Salah has been putting up from the opposite wing. Still, Díaz is averaging 0.59 xGI per 90 and has contributed 16 goals to Slot’s table-topping side—the second-most goal contributions in the Liverpool team behind Salah. He’s in electric form right now, with six goal contributions in his last six games for club and country.
You know who isn’t in good form right now? Tottenham. They haven’t shown any consistency all season and currently sit 16th, largely because they’re conceding a shocking 1.61 xG per 90—only the three teams in the relegation zone are worse. I, for one, can’t wait to double up on the Liverpool attack against this Spurs defence.
Forward – Raul Jiménez – £5.3m – SOU (A)
I’m using my Free Hit chip this week, which means any player in the league is available to me on a one-week loan deal. One player who has come into my thinking late is Fulham’s Raúl Jiménez.
While Fulham have scored plenty of goals this season, Jiménez has often had to share minutes with Brazilian teammate Rodrigo Muniz since ing the club last year. But this weekend, boss Marco Silva has ruled Muniz out—making Jiménez the perfect one-week punt against an already-relegated Southampton side.
The Saints have been dreadful this season, and if not for a 93rd-minute equaliser last weekend, they’d still be in danger of finishing below Derby’s record-low Premier League points total. Jiménez has managed a respectable—if not spectacular—10 goals in 25 starts this campaign. And with Southampton boasting the worst defensive record in the division (78 goals conceded), they’re the perfect opponent for the Mexican to add to his tally.
