FPL General returns with some more Fantasy Premier League tips ahead of Gameweek 28 – this week centred around how to prepare for the Blank and Double Gameweeks.

As is standard as we approach the latter stages of the Premier League campaign, a few Blank and Double Gameweeks are thrown into the mix in FPL, and we’re here to best prepare you ahead of the action.

The first of two Blank Gameweeks across the next few weeks comes in Gameweek 29, with Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Newcastle missing out due to the latter two’s involvement in the Carabao Cup final.

Both Newcastle and Crystal Palace are then involved in a Double Gameweek in GW32, as they go head-to-head with eachother, and the Magpies also take on Manchester United, while the Eagles face Manchester City.

There will also be a Blank Gameweek in GW34, which takes place at the same time as the FA Cup semi-finals. There are currently six fixtures in doubt, and postponements will be confirmed after the FA Cup quarter-finals have been played.

FPL Gameweek 28 Tips: How To Prepare For Blank/Double Gameweeks

To best prepare yourself for the unpredictability of the Blank and Double Gameweeks, save your transfers as often as possible. If your team looks fine for Gameweek 28, save your transfers for the weeks ahead.

Contrary to what many may believe, having 11 starters for Blank Gameweek 29 isn’t essential. It’s about quality over quantity. It’s more important to make sure you have a good captain for that week, as well as the key assets, such as Chris Wood, Justin Kluivert, Bryan Mbeumo, etc.

Unless your squad is completely decimated for Blank Gameweek 29, keep the Free Hit chip for later if you haven’t yet used it. By doing this, you will be able to navigate around Blank Gameweek 34 a lot easier.

If you still have the Assistant Manager chip and the Wildcard available, you can’t play both in the same Gameweek and once the Assistant Manager chip is deployed, no other chip can be used for three Gameweeks (including the Wildcard). Gameweeks 31/32/33 look good to get five fixtures from the AM chip, so you need to decide if Wildcard 29/30 or 34/35 is better for your squad.

GW30 is a midweek Gameweek. The weekend just before it is FA Cup quarter-finals weekend. We will learn a lot, based on the results in the cup, about the fixtures landscape over the course of that weekend.
