Three Replacements for Gabriel for FPL Gameweek 10 Following the Arsenal Defender’s Injury Vs Liverpool

FPL expert Holly Shand is back for another round of FPL advice for SportsCasting – with this week’s focus being centred around replacements for injured Arsenal defender Gabriel.
A drop in form from the Arsenal defence plus an injury to centre-back Gabriel means that we have reached the natural point to sell our Arsenal defenders.
So which , mid-priced, and budget options should we be considering as the best Gabriel replacements ahead of FPL Gameweek 10?
FPL Gameweek 10 Gabriel Replacements
Option
Josko Gvardiol vs Bournemouth (A)
Manchester City kept their second clean sheet of the season last time out against Southampton, with full-back Josko Gvardiol scooping up all three bonus points in the 1-0 win. He’s the highest scoring defender in the game over the last four gameweeks.
He’d had a quiet start to the season by his own high standards, but has flourished in this most recent period, scoring two goals. He’s among the most attacking defenders in the game, with 12 shots on goal and nine key es, carrying goal and assist threat in equal measure.
Despite only keeping two clean sheets in this campaign, only Liverpool and Nottingham Forest have conceded fewer goals than Manchester City. They have been somewhat unlucky not to deliver more shut-outs, with just 17 big chances conceded on their goal.
While the side have been struggling for goals in recent games, they continue to provide that defensive consistency. That run could well continue given their fixtures, with trips to Bournemouth and Brighton next on the agenda for Gvardiol.
Mid-Priced Option
Ibrahima Konate vs Brighton (H)
Liverpool have been the most consistent defensive team at the start of this season, with a leading tally of five clean sheets and just five goals conceded. While three of their defenders come with price tags, Ibrahim Konate is significantly cheaper at £5.3 million.
His side have come through a tricky period against Chelsea and Arsenal unbeaten and will now look to push on after their first big tests under new manager Arne Slot. Significantly, they have three home games in their next four, plus a trip to bottom of the table Southampton in this period.
Konate poses plenty of attacking threat and has already produced a couple of goal involvements this season: an assist against Bournemouth and a goal against Wolves. Liverpool face Brighton twice this week – keep an eye on Konate’s minutes against them in the League Cup on Wednesday evening.
Budget Option
Rayan Ait-Nouri vs Crystal Palace (H)
Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri will likely be the most bought defender going into FPL Gameweek 10, and justifiably so when you consider his five goal involvements in the opening nine gameweeks: three goals and two assists.
His high attacking output has come during a spell of very difficult fixtures for Wolves. Thankfully that period has come to an end, with the outlook over the next four gameweeks and increasing to the next eight, much more positive.
There’s hope that with home games against Crystal Palace, Southampton and Bournemouth in the next four gameweeks, Wolves can add clean sheets to attacking returns from the offensive Ait-Nouri. He has excelled in both a back four and a back five this campaign.
