Five Managers Who Could Replace Sean Dyche After Everton Confirm His Departure

Who would make a suitable Sean Dyche replacement? It is the question being asked by Everton fans after the club confirmed his sacking.
Everton last month showed they are hard to beat with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all held to draws in consecutive games.
But the reality is they are winless in their last five Premier League games. In fact, they have just one win in their last 11.
They have just three wins in 19 games, with eight draws and the same amount of defeats. This has left them just one point above the relegation zone, albeit with a game in hand.
Everton’s new owners The Freidkin Group have taken action by sacking Dyche ahead of their FA Cup tie with Peterborough on Thursday night. Their statement confirmed that under-18s head coach Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.
Their style of play isn’t working over the fans with only Southampton (12) scoring fewer goals than the Toffees (15) this season.
As a result the Everton relegation odds also see them as fifth favourite to go down. Only Arsenal are a longer-serving English top-flight side than Everton.
But who are the ideal candidates to replace Sean Dyche as Everton boss? Here are five managers that could succeed him.
Sean Dyche Replacement: Five Candidates Who Could Succeed Him At Everton
Jose Mourinho
A return to English football could be on the cards for Jose Mourinho who is currently at Fenerbahce.
Mourinho won three Premier League titles in two spells at Chelsea. He then had stints at Manchester United and Tottenham.
He has been out of the English game for four years having left Tottenham in January 2021.
Mourinho is the favourite to be the next Everton manager according to the best football betting sites in the UK.
The ‘Special One’ is reportedly getting restless in Turkey and the Toffees could take a gamble on Mourinho despite the legendary Portuguese manager not holding the same stock in football as he once did.

David Moyes
David Moyes is an Everton club legend – after a successful stint at the club between 2012 and 2013.
He continued to impress at West Ham delivering them European silverware in 2023.
Moyes brings a wealth of experience to the club and would be considered as someone who can guide them away from the yearly relegation contenders they have become over recent seasons.
Given he is a free agent he gets linked with a lot of clubs. However, like Sean Dyche, his brand of football has been criticised by fans in the past particularly at West Ham.
Maurizio Sarri
Everton could alternatively look to an overseas option such as Maurizio Sarri who is currently without a job.
Though he struggled at Chelsea, his work in Italy can’t be dismissed after guiding Juventus to a Serie A title and guiding Lazio to a second-place finish in his last job.
Sarri resigned as Lazio manager in March after a run of five defeats in six games which also saw them crash out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich.
The Italian has been linked with the Everton job over the opening months of the season. The Sun reported that Sarri was Dan Friedkin’s top managerial target.
Lee Carsley
A riskier choice in the fight to become the next Everton manager is former England stand-in Lee Carsley.
Carsley got some mixed reactions during his time in the Three Lions dugout. However, he showed some promise with some bold calls and giving chances to young England players.
He is a former Everton player having racked up 198 appearances in all competitions during six seasons at the club.
Though he lacks the experience of other options on the list, he would arguably be the most popular.
Xavi
Perhaps a surprising choice for a potential Sean Dyche replacement. Other than a brief spell in Qatar, his football career has otherwise just been spent at Barcelona.
However, he is another manager without a club at the moment and he could be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
His managerial credentials have come under question at times but he did win the LaLiga during his time in the Barcelona dugout.
He is the biggest name on this list but Everton have attracted big names in the past including Carlo Ancelotti – one of the greatest managers of all time.
However, a job at Everton would face very different challenge to any he has faced before.
