Federico Chiesa’s impending move to Liverpool ahead of the closing stages of the summer transfer window will be a cause for concern for the Reds faithful.

The Juventus winger has missed exactly 100 games for club and country since 2019, according to Transfermarkt. With Arne Slot keen to add to his squad, Chiesa’s injury history will no doubt provide plenty of food for thought.

At the time of writing, the Reds have only made one major g in 2024/25. However, Chiesa could move to Merseyside for a cut-price deal for a reported £12.7m.

Federico Chiesa Liverpool Transfer: Injury History Explained

Not only has Federico Chiesa missed a century of games over the last five years, the Euro 2020 winner has suffered 22 different injuries in total.

Nine of those have been muscle related – with fatigue being the most common. Chiesa’s other injuries include hamstring problems, adductor issues, knee and tendon irritation as well as general fitness concerns.

Most notably, Chiesa missed 45 games over a 269 day period when he suffered a cruciate ligament tear. That has been the 26-year-old’s worst injury and longest spell on the sidelines to date.

All in all, Chiesa has spent 493 days out injured in his career. However, since the ACL in January 2022, the winger has missed 27 games via injury.

Granted, he has gone on to suffer 11 different spells out but the most games he missed via any one of the injuries was six games. Something of which will still concern the medical team on Merseyside.

In 2023/24, Chiesa played over 2,500 minutes in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. He ed 10 goals and provided three assists across both competitions.

However, he missed 11 games last season via three separate injuries. Slot will likely be encouraged by Chiesa’s improving injury stats but the concerns won’t go away in of his long-term ability to stay fit and on the pitch.
