The latest Fabrizio Romano transfer news has indicated that Chelsea are considering a bid for Marc Guehi this month.

Enzo Maresca is reportedly in the market for another centre-back and views the Crystal Palace star as an ideal candidate. However, Romano says any possible deal won’t be easy.

Furthermore, the Italian sports journalist posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) on Monday how the Blues are also toying with the idea of recalling Trevoh Chalobah from the Eagles.

Maresca wants to shore up his backline for the second-half of the 2024/25 campaign. Over the festive period, the west Londoners Premier League form has dipped dramatically.

With Palace struggling at the wrong end of the table, the Blues are set to test their resolve. A sizeable mid-season bid will leave their capital rivals plenty to ponder.

Ironically, Maresca got to have a closer look at Guehi up close as the London sides played out a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Cole Palmer scored the opener before Jean-Philippe Mateta levelled for the home side late on. The Blues are now without a victory in their last four outings.

Fabrizio Romano Transfer News Confirms Chelsea Interest In Marc Guehi

Marc Guehi has proven to be one of the Premier League’s finest centre-backs in recent seasons. Furthermore, his glowing performances for England at Euro 2024 have seen his stock rise dramatically.

In the summer, Newcastle United declared an interest in Guehi but were put off after Crystal Palace wanted approximately £70 million.

More recently, Manchester City have kept tabs on the 24-year-old as the faltering champions planned a huge defensive overhaul at the Etihad.

Now, Chelsea have ed the race for the Palace star. Boss Enzo Maresca wants to bolster his defensive options in a bid to challenge for the title.

As the Magpies found out, Guehi won’t come cheap but he is entering the last 18 months of his current deal at Selhurst Park.

That may give the Blues a slight advantage when or if they enter into negotiations. Guehi knows the set up at Stamford Bridge very well, having been part of the club’s youth team set up.

The Three Lions defender made just two first-team appearances. Both coming in the EFL Cup before transferring to Palace in 2021.

Both sides are in FA Cup 3rd Round action this weekend. The best football betting sites in the UK have all the latest markets and odds.
