‘Life Will Get Difficult’ – Fabio Capello Explains How Inter Milan Can Hurt AC Milan in Supercoppa Italiana Final

Legendary Italian coach Fabio Capello has said Inter Milan have the quality to torment AC Milan in the Suppercoppa Italiana final on Monday night, 6th January.
Simone Inzaghi’s Inter will lock horns with Sergio Conceicao’s Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana at the Al-Awwal Park in Saudi Arabia. The Nerazzurri claimed a 2-0 victory over Serie A high-fliers Atalanta to book a place in the grand event. Denzel Dumfries scored both of those goals against La Dea.
The Rossoneri, meanwhile, narrowly edged out Juventus, beating them 2-1 in the semi-finals. Kenan Yildiz fired the Old Lady into the lead in the 21st minute. A good 51 minutes later, Milan equalized, as Christian Pulisic converted from the spot. Federico Gatti’s unfortunate 75th-minute own goal then secured a 2-1 victory for the seven-time European champions.

A special Derby della Madonnina will determine who will take home the shiny Supercoppa Italiana trophy and €8 million (£6.6 million) in prize money. In his La Gazzetta dello Sport column, Capello suggested Inzaghi and Co. might have the upper hand, even without leading scorer Marcus Thuram (injured against Atalanta).
“I think that the current version is the best of Nerazzurri side since Simone Inzaghi took over. In the words of the coach himself, ‘the boys have gone beyond all expectations’.
“Of course, Thuram’s absence will be a miss, at least in of goals. The weight on Lautaro Martinez’s shoulders will also increase, he might be the only one at Inter not having the best time at the moment. The captain wasted an unmissable chance against Atalanta, we all say it, but in of the performance, he did his part, as always.”

The former Milan coach then explained how Inter could put pressure on their local rivals this week.
“Did you see the work of Dumfries and Dimarco out wide in the semi-final? They can cause problems for the opponents from there as well as from midfield, or from shots from distance from Calhanoglu and his teammates. There are so many options.
“However, I think that the real key to the final could be Inter’s pressing. They were determined against Atalanta, almost ferocious. Meanwhile, Milan suffered a lot from Juventus’s pressure in the first half. If the Nerazzurri replicate their work off the ball from the semi-final, life will get difficult for the Rossoneri.”
Inter Milan and AC Milan have locked horns 224 times in all competitions. Inter have won 85, Milan 72, while 67 games ended in a draw.
