Former Everton Player Reveals Farhad Moshiri Rejected Chance To Sign Erling Haaland For Just £2m

Former Everton player Aaron Lennon has revealed that the Toffees rejected the chance to sign a young Erling Haaland for just £2m.

Man City’s success.

His stunning goalscoring form has helped City win back-to-back league titles, the FA Cup, Champions League and Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Everton have been battling to avoid relegation over recent season under the club’s now former owner Farhad Moshiri.

Everton spent big money under Moshiri’s ownership but many gs failed to deliver. However, Lennon has revealed that Everton could have signed Erling Haaland – a player who likely would have improved their fortunes.

Haaland Visited Everton As A Teenager

Aaron Lennon has revealed that Erling Haaland was given a tour of Everton as a teenager and how he had a face-to-face exchange with the Norwegian superstar before he was famous.

“I Erling Haaland walking in the building with Steve Walsh, coming up to me in the physio room. Steve introduced him to me like ‘oh look we’ve got Haaland, you know his dad Alfie? The Leeds boy. Hopefully we’re going to have him here’,” Lennon told the BBC’s Football Daily show.

“I was like oh wow I’ve not heard much of him, I think he was 15 or 16 years old and never seen him again. They could have had him for two or three million.

“I think Moshiri didn’t sign off on that and can you imagine, Erling Haaland would have signed for Everton,” he added.

Haaland eventually ended up staying at boyhood club Molde. He later ed RB Salzburg and then Borussia Dortmund where he attracted the attention of the world’s biggest clubs.

Friedkin Group Complete Everton Takeover

Aaron Lennon’s ission over Erling Haaland comes a day after The Friedkin Group completed their takeover of Everton.

The US company, which is owned by American billionaire Dan Friedkin, bought Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the Toffees – bringing an end to his reign at the football club.

A figure hasn’t been disclosed on how much the takeover has cost, however, all of Everton‘s many debts have been converted into long-term debts. It is thought the deal could cost in the region of £500 million.

Friedkin, who also owns Serie A side Roma, is reportedly worth $6.1 billion (£4.8m).
