What Would The England Squad Look Like If It Was Picked Through FotMob Ratings?

Thomas Tuchel has split opinion after selecting his first squad as England manager, but how would the team look if it was selected through FotMob ratings?
The German manager will take charge of his first games as Three Lions boss and has made some interesting selections in his opening squad.
Jordan Henderson, Marcus Rashford and Kyle Walker have all been included in the squad despite underwhelming seasons – leaving some fans questioning Tuchel before a ball has been kicked.
Many called for the inclusion of Morgan Gibbs-White and the Nottingham Forest star has now been included after Cole Palmer was forced to withdraw through injury.
Fans have complained about picking players based off reputation and not performances this season, so we have looked into the England squad and picked a starting eleven if it was picked via the player rating system at FotMob.
England Squad: Starting XI Based Off FotMob Ratings
* From Top 5 European Leagues in each position
GK: Jordan Pickford – 7.18
The Everton number one has been one of the first names on the England team sheet since the 2018 World Cup and has continued to perform at Goodison Park.
Pickford was irreplaceable under Sean Dyche and has kept his place during David Moyes’ return to the blue half of Merseyside.
In 29 Premier League matches, the Englishman has kept nine clean sheets and has saved both of the penalties he has faced this season.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7.48
Trent Alexander-Arnold is on course to win his second Premier League title this season and has been a pivotal member under Arne Slot.
His future at Liverpool has be surrounded with uncertainty this season, as rumours over a move to Real Madrid continue to grow and he is yet to agree a new deal.
Once again Trent has been a threat in Liverpool’s attack, contributing to six goals (2G+6A) and would have been a certain member of Tuchel’s squad if he was not injured.
CB: James Tarkowski – 7.05
A surprising addition to this team is Everton’s stalwart defender, James Tarkowski – who is the highest rated English centre back in the Premier League.
The throwback defender has been a steady presence in Everton’s defence once again and even provided their biggest moment of the season by scoring a last minute equaliser in the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.
Tarkowski has not appeared for the Three Lions in almost seven years, last donning the kit in September 2018.
CB: Eric Dier – 7.20
The duo in the centre of defence could raise a few eyebrows as according to FotMob’s rating, Eric Dier has achieved the highest score out of all the English central defenders on average.
Dier is currently on the books at Bayern Munich and actually played under Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz during the German’s underwhelming stint as Bayern Munich manager.
This season, Dier has started eight matches and even ed an assist from defence – but this lack of game time may be the reasoning for his FotMob average rating.
LB: Lewis Hall – 7.07
One man who would have definitely been in Tuchel’s squad if he was not dealing with an injury is Newcastle defender, Lewis Hall.
The youngster has been a revelation for Eddie Howe this season and with the likes of Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell under-performing, the left back slot is available for fresh blood.
Hall has managed to accumulated four assists from left back in the Premier League so far and has become a fan favourite at St James’ Park.
CM: Jude Bellingham – 7.65
Arguably the biggest name on the list is Jude Bellingham, as the English sensation continues to shine at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The former Borussia Dortmund star has contributed to 13 goals for Los Blancos in La Liga this season, scoring seven and assisting six – cementing his place for both club and country.
Madrid are also in a good position to win the La Liga and Champions League double for two seasons straight, reaching the UCL quarter finals and sitting level on points with Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
CM: Eberechi Eze – 7.37
Crystal Palace’s star man has earned a place in this team with a 7.37 average rating on FotMob and contrubuting to eight Premier Legaue goals (2G+6A).
The English midfielder has endured a difficult time with injury, however, his return to the side has highlighted how important he is Oliver Glasner.
Eze was a member of Gareth Southgate’s final England squad, featuring at the 2024 European Championships and was also selected in Tuchel’s first squad.
CAM: Cole Palmer – 7.71
Cole Palmer has hit a bad run of form at Chelsea for the first time since g in September 2023, as he has failed to score or assist in seven consecutive Premier League appearances.
Despite this, the former Manchester City star has still contributed to 20 goals in England’s top flight, scoring 14 goals and assisting six.
Palmer is currently dealing with an injury that kept him out of the defeat to Arsenal and will also see him miss out on England’s camp.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 7.75
Another player who has been dealing with injury is Bukayo Saka, who has missed the last 12 Premier League matches with a hamstring problem.
Before his injury in December 2024, the Arsenal academy graduate had contributed to 15 goals in the Premier League (5G+10A).
His injury problem means he will miss England’s matches, but Saka has been a regular in the squad – being a vital member at the 2020 Euros, 2022 World Cup and 2024 Euros.
ST: Harry Kane – 7.85
It will come as no surprise that the highest rated English striker this season is Harry Kane and the England captain is set to win his first trophy as Bayern sit top of the Bundesliga.
So far, the former Tottenham Hotspur talisman has contributed to an astounding 43 goals in 37 matches across all competitions this season.
Despite reaching 31-years of age, Kane is undoubtedly England’s biggest goal threat and Thomas Tuchel has already confirmed he will be keeping the Bayern star as captain.
LW: Anthony Gordon – 7.33
Finally in this list we have Newcastle star, Anthony Gordon, who will be gutted he was unable to play in the Magpies’ heroic Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool.
The Englishman missed out after picking up a red card against Brighton in the FA Cup, but Gordon has still been a pivotal part of Newcastle’s attack this season.
Contributing to 15 goals in all competitions, Gordon has earned a place in Tuchel’s side and will be hoping to make more of an impact than he managed at the 2024 Euros.
