Eddie Jordan Dies At 76: Tributes Pour In For The Former Formula One Team Owner

Former Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan, OBE has died at the age of 76, his family has informed.
In December 2024, the former TV analyst — whose team Jordan competed in 250 Grands Prix — revealed that he was battling with prostate and bladder cancer.
Jordan’s family’s statement to PA news read: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the ing of Eddie Jordan OBE, the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.
“He ed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March 2025 at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months.”
It concluded by adding: “EJ brought an abundance of charisma, energy and Irish charm everywhere he went. We all have a huge hole missing without his presence. He will be missed by so many people, but he leaves us with tonnes of great memories to keep us smiling through our sorrow.”
Tributes Pour In For The Ex-Formula One Team Owner Eddie Jordan
Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali, was one of the first to react to the tragic news.
“We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan. With his inexhaustible energy, he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times,” said Domenicali.
“Eddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed. In this moment of sorrow, my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones.”

Tributes have been pouring in Jordan, who gave seven-time world-champion Michael Schumacher his Formula One debut.
Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “RIP my friend. Condolences to each and every one of your lovely family. What a character What a rock star. What a racer. So many drivers owe you so much, you gave us our chances and believed in us.”

McLaren wrote:

Aston Martin added:

Eddie’s Jordan won four times during their memorable run between 1991 and 2005. The one-two, led by Damon Hill, at the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix was the team’s most memorable result.
