Danny Rohl is expected to be targeted by Southampton again this summer with the Saints already looking destined to part ways with Ivan Juric.

That’s according to Jack Rosser (@JackRosser_), who suggests Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl could swap Hillsborough for St Mary’s at the end of the season.

In December, Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg suggested the Premier League basement dwellers were in ‘ongoing’ talks with Rohl about replacing Russell Martin.

However, that move never materialised. Instead, the South Coast club hired Juric. The Croat has won just one of his 10 top-flight games in charge. He’s lost the other nine by an aggregate score of 28-6.

It’s widely expected that Juric will be moved on at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. That’s assuming he doesn’t save Southampton from relegation which is seemingly impossible at this stage.

Juric has spent the vast majority of his managerial career in Italy. He was most recently at AS Roma before filling the void left by Martin in late 2024.

Danny Rohl To Manage Southampton?

According to the next Southampton manager odds, Danny Rohl heads the market. The current Sheffield Wednesday boss can be backed at 3/1. And it’s easy to see why.

Not only have the Saints been long-term irers, Rohl has worked wonders during his stint at Hillsborough. The German gaffer easily led the Owls to EFL Championship safety in 2024.

This season, the Yorkshire giants have been flirting with the playoffs but have endured a bad run of results in recent weeks. Nonetheless, that hasn’t deterred the South Coast club.

Interestingly, Southampton will not have to pay as much compensation for Rohl if they do get relegated. If truth be told, that looks like a case of ‘when’ and not ‘if.’

During Ralph Hassenhuttl’s tenure at St Mary’s, Rohl actually worked underneath the Austrian manager. He will likely be very well received by ers, too.

Rohl and his side are back in action on Saturday against Plymouth. According to the best football betting sites in the UK, Wednesday are the 21/20 favourites.
