Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly asked Al-Nassr to sign his former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro from Manchester United. The Saudi Pro League side could make a move for the Brazilian in the January transfer window.

In the summer of 2022, Manchester United paid around £60 million to sign five-time UEFA Champions League-winning defensive midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid. The Red Devils were hopeful that Casemiro’s big-game experience and winning mentality would elevate their game.

The former Sao Paulo man had a fine debut season at United. He chipped in with four goals and three assists in 28 Premier League matches to help Manchester United qualify for the UEFA Champions League. In the 2023-24 season, Casemiro missed three months of football after suffering a hamstring injury, and he has since been trying to recapture his best form.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim does not seem to have the 32-year-old in his plans, as he has only played him four times in the nine games he has managed in the Premier League.

Last week, Brazilian outlet UOL reported that Casemiro had agreed to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window, with Saudi Arabia emerging as his most likely destination. Now, The Telegraph has added more fuel to the exit rumours by adding the Ronaldo factor to the mix.

As per the English outlet, the 39-year-old forward wants Al-Nassr to go after Casemiro in January, as he believes he would be an excellent addition to the squad. The Saudi side may very well entertain their talisman’s proposal, but they have some work to do before they can sign and Casemiro.

According to the Saudi Pro League rulebook, a club can only eight overseas players. Since Al-Nassr already have eight foreigners on their roster, they must de- one player to field Casemiro. Having already sold Seko Fofana to Rennes, the Saudi side could offload Anderson Talisca to Fenerbahce to comply with the regulation.

If Manchester United sell Casemiro in January, they could try to sign Nuno Mendes from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Amorim is fond of the left-back and wants him to be his first g. However, considering how important Mendes is to PSG, United could have a hard time convincing them to sell.
