Christian Horner Sack Rumours Grow But Sources Say Red Bull Principal’s Job Is Secure For Now

The latest Christian Horner sack update suggests the Red Bull team principal could be nearing an exit, but sources close to the team have downplayed reports.
Rumours from Austria – the home of Red Bull – have been growing steadily that the Formula 1 team boss could be close to the sack.
Englishman Horner, 51, has led Red Bull to six Constructors’ Championships, with Red Bull drivers winning the Driver’s Championship six times since the team was founded in 2005.
The past four years of F1 have seen the team on top, with lead driver Max Verstappen winning four consecutive titles.
But the emergence of McLaren as the fastest car on the grid saw Red Bull miss out on last season’s Constructors’ Championship.
Things have been no better in 2025, with Verstappen’s faultless drive at the Japanese Grand Prix victory the team’s only win so far.

McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have won the other five races.
And both Verstappen and senior team consultant Helmut Marko have itted their concerns about the pace of this year’s Red Bull car.
Will Christian Horner Get The Sack?
Amid this backdrop of disappointment, rumours are growing that Christian Horner could be destined for the sack.
There are even suggestions that he could be dismissed after this weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.
It has been a tumultuous couple of years for Horner. In 2024, he was accused of ‘coercive behaviour’ by a female employee – something he has always denied.
And there has been something of a power struggle within the Red Bull team since the death of the energy drink company’s founder, Dietrich Mateschitz, in 2022.
The Austrian side of Red Bull is thought to want Horner out, but he has kept the of the Thai half of the company, with co-founder Chalerm Yoovidhya retaining a 51% stake in the overall Red Bull corporation.
Red Bull Assess Possible Horner Replacements
According to a report from Austrial outlet oe24, there are a number of options Red Bull are considering if they do decide to sack Horner.
Former Alpine boss Oliver Oakes quit his role after 10 months just last week, and could be a good fit.

And ex-Racing Bulls (formerly Torro Rosso) boss Franz Tost is also said to be under consideration.
But team sources have reportedly dismissed rumours of Horner’s impending exit.
His job is not thought to be under immediate threat, though Red Bull’s track record of brutally axing team at short notice means their word must be taken with a pinch of salt.
