Former England striker Chris Sutton has predicted that Bournemouth will build on their strong form as of late with a narrow victory over West Ham in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Gameweek 16 of the 2024/25 Premier League season culminates with Bournemouth hosting West Ham on Monday evening, with both sides heading into the tie off the back of victories last time out.

Andoni Iraola’s Cherries have won three games on the bounce, beating Ipswich 2-1 in their last league game, and can climb as high as fifth in the table with a victory over the Hammers on the south coast.

As for the visitors, they narrowly triumphed 2-1 against Wolves in Gameweek 15, with star forward Jarrod Bowen ing a goal and an assist as Julen Lopetegui’s side came out on top in the ‘El Sackico’.

Ahead of Monday night’s clash at the Vitality, former England striker Chris Sutton delivered his prediction for the game.

Speaking to BBC Sport in his weekly predictions column, Sutton said that there’s only one team he can see prevailing in this one, backing Bournemouth to claim a narrow 2-1 victory over the Hammers.

“West Ham’s win over Wolves last time out was a step in the right direction under Julen Lopetegui but he needs to maintain that improvement over a longer period, otherwise he is always going to be under pressure,” he said.

“Jarrod Bowen is looking sharp for the Hammers and I think they will make a game of this, but I can only see one winner here and it is Bournemouth.

“What a team the Cherries have been this season. They always create a lot of chances and I’m expecting them to make it four wins in a row.”

The UK’s best football betting sites have Bournemouth as clear favourites for Monday night’s clash on the south coast, and you can match Sutton’s prediction by backing a 2-1 scoreline to be played out at around 17/2.
