A rumoured transfer that has been well reported in recent weeks is Liam Delap from Ipswich.

It is understood that this is considered virtually a done deal, as the Blues have activated his £30m release clause.

Manchester United, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are also said to have been interested in landing the England youth international this summer, however he opted for a move to Stamford Bridge due to Maresca’s playing style.

Delap completed his medical at Cobham over Sunday and Monday, so an announcement is forthcoming.

Jamie Gittens 4d4b12

Another young English talent Chelsea are hoping to sign is Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

Like Delap, he came through the Manchester City youth academy. The 20-year-old departed for the Bundesliga in 2018 and has developed greatly since making his first-team bow back in 2022.

Gittens also spent a brief spell in Chelsea’s youth academy between January and July 2012.

The winger made a total of 48 appearances across all competitions for Die Borussen this term, ing 12 goals and five assists. This includes four goals and one assist in the Champions League.

According to reports, Gittens is keen on a return to England as he hopes to break into Thomas Tuchel’s national squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup. He is expected to cost the Blues north of £50m.

Reports suggest that Delap isn’t the only striker Chelsea are looking to land this summer, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike among their transfer targets ahead of their Club World Cup campaign.

It leaves the future of Nicolas Jackson, who some claim is unhappy at the club, up in the air.

Ekitike, a product of the Reims youth academy and formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, has had an excellent season in . He ed 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games for Die Adler.

L’Equipe report that the Blues are accelerating towards closing a deal for his services. Their report also claims that the youth international is drawing interest from other clubs, too.

The 22-year-old was due to play for ’s U21 side this month but has since withdrawn from the squad. Although he is nursing an injury, it is likely that he withdrew in order to rest ahead of his mooted transfer.

In other news, Conference League final goalscorer Jadon Sancho is set to return to Manchester United.

Chelsea were expected to activate the £25m clause in his loan deal, however both parties have failed to make an agreement on personal , as reported by football transfer expert David Ornstein on Tuesday.

This means that the Blues will have to pay a £5m penalty as the 25-year-old heads back to Old Trafford.

Sancho isn’t expected to break into Ruben Amorim’s squad though, and will likely find a new club this summer.
