Why Did Police Seize Chelsea Man Moises Caicedo’s Car?
According to a report from the Sun, Surrey police stopped Chelsea footballer Moises Caicedo last week as he was heading home down Fairmile Lane. The 23-year-old midfielder was behind the wheel of his Audi RSQ8 but was not carrying a valid UK driving license. Since driving without a valid UK license is a grave offence, the officers seized Caicedo’s £160,000 car.

In an interview with the Sun, a Surrey police spokesperson confirmed the incident, although without naming Caicedo.
“A man in his 20s from Cobham was stopped by officers on Fairmile Lane in Cobham on Friday 4 April and found to be driving without a licence. The vehicle was seized, and our enquiries are ongoing,” they said.
UK Driving Rule for Foreign Nationals
As per UK law, foreign nationals who carry international driving permits are allowed to drive in the country for a maximum of 1 year. Upon expiry, they need to apply for a provisional driving license and then the full practical test to obtain a valid driving license in the UK.
Caicedo ed Chelsea for a whopping £115 million fee from Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2023. However, he has been in England since ing from Independiente in February 2021. Considering how long he has been in the country, Caicedo’s entourage should have found the time to make a valid driving license for the midfielder.
Driving without a valid UK license may not be the extent of Caicedo’s offenses. According to GOAL, authorities are also taking a closer look at Caicedo’s documentation to determine whether he was carrying appropriate insurance coverage.
What Will Happen to Caicedo If He Is Found Guilty?
If Surrey police find Moises Caicedo guilty of both crimes, he could be summoned to court to justify his actions. If he cannot produce a respectable justification, he could face multiple penalties and might see his driving license banned for the foreseeable future.
