The hosts were heavy favourites on UK betting sites going into the match, as Leicester went to Stamford Bridge in 19th and six points away from safety.

However, Chelsea managed to take the lead in the 60th minute through an unlikely source, as Marc Cucurella found the bottom right corner with an emphatic finish.

The Foxes struggled to break through Chelsea’s defence and did not create many clear cut chances, as the Blues remained comfortable for the majority of the second half.

Enzo Maresca’s side stayed were solid for the final 10 minutes and secured a narrow victory over the relegation-battling Leicester.

Enzo Maresca’s side welcome FC Copenhagen to Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Conference League RO16 and the Blues will be hoping to keep their 2-1 lead from the opening leg.
