The 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson prize money has been confirmed, with a huge cash pot on offer for the lucky winner.

Named after Texas golf legend and five-time major winner Byron Nelson, this year’s competition starts on Thursday, May 1 and runs until Sunday, May 4.

Last year, Taylor Pendrith won by a single stroke from Ben Holes. Byron Nelson won the first ever tournament in 1944, while other former winners include Sergio Garcia, Jason Daly and Billy Horschel.

The event is hosted by T Craig Ranch in McKinney, to the northeast of Dallas, Texas.

Having raised more than $143 million for charity, the Byron Nelson is the leading charity fundraiser on the PGA Tour.

But while the players won’t take home that much for winning, they can still expect a huge payout for winning this year’s event.

Scottie Scheffler Eying Byron Nelson Victory

Discussing his chances of a victory in his home state, Scheffler was hopeful after a strong performance at RBC Heritage, finishing T8.

He said: “I think I’m really close.

“I feel like I did a lot of things well, just a few of the important shots I just didn’t pull off. Outside of that, it was a pretty solid week.”

And when asked about the possibility of completing a career Grand Slam, he itted Rory McIlroy’s Master’s victory – which sealed slam – was inspiring, but his focus is on the next tournament.

“The feeling you get from winning a tournament is pretty special. For me, I wish it lasted longer than it did. It doesn’t really last very long”, added Scheffler.

“Was it pretty awesome watching Rory win the Grand Slam? Of course it was. But as far as my life goes, I try to stay in the present. I don’t think very often about career goals.

“Winning the career Grand Slam, I think that’s something that any golfer would dream of, but at the end of the day, I’m just trying to get the most out of myself. That’s about it.”
