Burnley Promoted To The Premier League After Sheffield United Victory

Watch the Burnley vs Sheffield Utd highlights as a Josh Brownhill double secures Clarets Premier League return.
Burnley Promoted To The Premier League
Burnley’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield Utd on Easter Monday means the Clarets have returned to the Premier League at the very first time of asking.
Scott Parker’s men will Leeds back in England’s elite for the 2025-26 campaign. Top scorer Josh Brownhill was the hero as his double ended the Blades automatic promotion hopes.
Parker’s magnificent job at Turf Moor can become all the more special if the Lancashire side can pip the Whites to the EFL Championship title on May 3, 2025.
The former England international has now won three promotions to the top-flight with three different clubs. His first success came with Fulham via the play-offs in 2020.
Two years later, Parker led Bournemouth to the runner-up spot. However, he lost his job at the Vitality Stadium the following season after a 9-0 thumping to Liverpool.

Burnley Vs Sheffield Utd Highlights
Burnley sealed their Premier League return at the first time of asking after being relegated from England’s elite in 2023-24.
The Clarets beat third-place Sheffield Utd 2-1 at Turf Moor thanks to a first-half Josh Brownhill double. That victory means Scott Parker’s men are now unbeaten in 31 Championship games.
In the process, Parker completed his hat-trick of promotions to the top-flight. The 44-year-old has overseen a formidable campaign and hasn’t tasted defeat since a 1-0 loss to Millwall in November.
More notably, the Lancashire side have conceded just 15 times in 2024-25. Goalkeeper James Trafford has kept 29 clean sheets and hasn’t let in more than one goal in a game he has featured.
All that remains now is for Burnley to go on and pip Leeds to the EFL Championship crown. Both sides are locked on 94 points but the Whites top the table via goal difference.
At Turf Moor on Easter Monday, midfield-sensation Josh Brownhill opened the scoring with 28 minutes on the clock. The Clarets captain netted after Stephen Cooper parried Josh Cullen’s effort into his path.
The Blades rallied and were rewarded with the equaliser via Tom Cannon just ten minutes later. Trafford was finally beaten when the January g from Leicester finished well with a rising left-footed drive.
However, Burnley’s party wasn’t about to be ruined as Brownhill netted his second from the penalty spot just before half-time. Anel Ahmedhodzic brought down Hannibal Mejbri and Brownhill dispatched his 16th goal of the season.
As the Clarets celebrated, third spot is now guaranteed for Chris Wilder’s men. They will play the sixth-placed side in a two-legged semi-final play-off for the chance to advance to the final at Wembley on May 24, 2025.
