Bryson DeChambeau Reveals He Was Snubbed By Rory McIlroy During Masters Final Round

Bryson DeChambeau has revealed that he was snubbed by playing partner Rory McIlroy on the final day of the Masters.
LIV Golf star DeChambeau teed up alongside McIlroy for the final day of action at Augusta National.
Sparks were expected with McIlroy just two shots ahead of American rival DeChambeau going into the final round.
What followed though was silence, as McIlroy went on to finally win the Masters after a playoff with Justin Rose.
What Happened Between Rory McIlroy And Bryson DeChambeau?
Bryson DeChambeau has revealed that Rory McIlroy refused to talk to him during the final round of the Masters.
“No idea. (McIlroy) Didn’t talk to me all day,” the American replied when asked how McIlroy was feeling after clinching the famous green jacket.
“He wouldn’t talk to me,” he doubled down when asked if he attempted to initiate conversation with McIlroy.
DeChambeau added: “He [McIlroy] was just being focused, I guess. It’s not me, though.”
The silent treatment appeared to be a strategy from McIlroy who remained intensely focused during the final round.
While McIlroy emerged victorious, the American faded and finished tied for fifth at seven-under – four shots behind his rival.

Are Rory McIlroy And Bryson DeChambeau Friends?
There isn’t known to be any animosity between Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau despite the snub at the Masters.
The pair had an epic matchup at the 2024 U.S. Open which the American emerged victorious. DeChambeau told reporters on Saturday: “He said congrats at the British Open. And that’s pretty much it.
“We’ve been fine ever since. It’s not really been an issue.”
There are some differences though between McIlroy and DeChambeau. Most notably when it comes to their views on LIV Golf.
McIlroy in the past was one of the most vocal detractors of LIV Golf – a league which DeChambeau signed up to.
Part of the reason why McIlroy might have blanked DeChambeau is his 2024 U.S. Open defeat to the American.
Rory McIlroy’s 2024 U.S. Open Collapse
Bryson DeChambeau beat Rory McIlroy by one shot at the 2024 U.S. Open, after the Northern Irishman collapsed in the final round.
McIlroy held a two-shot lead during the final round of the tournament which was held last June. However, he suffered three bogeys across the final five holes – missing two putts from a combined distance of seven feet.
He fled the course minutes after DeChambeau wrapped up the victory and announced the next day that he wouldn’t return to action until the Genesis Scottish Open the next month.
His loss was referred to in a recent video posted by LIV Golf’s official .
In that clip, McIlroy says: “I’d like to go up against Bryson and get him back for what he did to me at the US Open.”
DeChambeau responded by saying: “To be fair, you kind of did that to yourself.”
McIlroy looked lost for words at first before he eventually responded: “I don’t really know where to go from there.”
However, the pair were seen laughing during the video with McIlroy taking DeChambeau’s comment well.

How Did Rory McIlroy Win The Masters?
Rory McIlroy made up for his 2024 U.S. Open defeat to Bryson DeChambeau by winning the Masters.
However, it was Justin Rose and not DeChambeau who proved to be McIlroy’s toughest challenger in the final round.
There were a couple of times when it looked like it would be another Masters disappointment for McIlroy.
He lost a two-shot lead in two holes to start Sunday. McIlroy then lost a four-shot lead on the back nine in a matter of three holes – one of which was a wedge into Rae’s Creek on the par-5 13th.
Two birdies sent him into the final hole with a one-shot lead, only to miss a five-foot par putt to score a one-over 73.
Rose hit a brilliant 66 in the final round to take the Masters to its first playoff in eight years.
In the playoff, McIlroy finally won the Masters after he converted his birdie when Rose was unable to do so.
