The Bruno Fernandes red card in the defeat to Tottenham now means the Manchester United captain is set to miss the next three Premier League fixtures.

On the stroke of half-time, Fernandes was given his marching orders after a late tackle on James Maddison. Referee Chris Kavanagh didn’t hesitate in dismissing the Portuguese international.

United were already trailing 1-0 after Brennan Johnson gave Spurs an early lead at Old Trafford. Second-half goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke completed a miserable afternoon for the Red Devils.

Many turned to X, formerly Twitter to channel their thoughts and feelings about the Fernandes red card. The general was fairly mixed but it didn’t excuse United’s lacklustre performance.

Bruno Fernandes Red Card Sums Up Shocking Manchester United Performance

Even without the Bruno Fernandes red card, Manchester United would still have struggled against a far superior Tottenham Hotspur side.

Ange Postecoglou’s team dominated at Old Trafford from start to finish. The 3-0 scoreline didn’t really do the north Londoners justice as a heavier victory could easily have been obtained.

Nonetheless, the Australian boss was delighted with his team and rightly so. They made such light work of Erik ten Hag’s men and did so without star man Son Heung-min.

Spurs can start looking up the Premier League table whereas United are still languishing in the bottom half. They have picked up just seven points in their opening 6 games.

What Games Will Bruno Fernandes Miss For Manchester United?

Owing to the Bruno Fernandes red card, the Manchester United midfielder will now miss the trip to Aston Villa on October 6. A hugely vital game whereby his presence will be missed.

Fernandes will also be absent for the Premier League games against Brentford and West Ham. He will essentially miss the whole month of domestic fixtures.

However, Fernandes will be available for the UEFA Europa League games against Porto and Fenerbahce. His first game back could come in the Carabao Cup clash against Leicester City.

After their humbling defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, the best football betting sites in the UK now price the Red Devils at 15/2 to finish in the top four this season.
