The latest Ben Doak injury update has indicated the Middlesbrough star’s season could be over after he underwent minor thigh surgery.

Doak has returned to parent club Liverpool for treatment and has not featured for Boro since late January. The 19-year-old loanee is widely tipped for a bright future in the Premier League having dazzled in the EFL Championship.

He’s also set to miss Scotland’s UEFA Nations League play-off clashes against Greece later this month. Which will come as a huge blow to Tartan Army boss Steve Clark.

In the summer, interest in Doak was high but Boro boss Michael Carrick convinced the youngster to move to the Riverside on a temporary basis. And the pacey winger hasn’t disappointed.

Doak has become a key player on Teeside and is very much a fan’s favourite. In 2024/25, Doak has scored three times and provided seven assists in 24 appearances across England’s second tier.

Ben Doak Injury Update Doesn’t Bode Well For Middlesbrough

Ben Doak’s injury update has come at the worst possible time for Middlesbrough. During his absence after getting injured against Preston on January 25, Boro went on to lose their next four EFL Championship games.

Michael Carrick’s men have picked up two wins from their last two league games without Doak but his temporary recall could have huge ramifications for their playoff push.

As it stands, the Teesiders are in ninth position and two points from the top six. However, Boro still have to face the likes of Leeds, Coventry, Norwich and Blackburn.

The quartet are all gunning for promotion and Doak’s spell on the sidelines will surely be felt. Having returned to Anfield, his loan spell isn’t technically over so he could make a comeback if he recovers in time.

There are just 11 regular league games of the 2024/25 campaign left to play. Potentially, there are 14 games if Boro were to go all the way to the playoff final.

On Saturday, Carrick’s side travels to Swansea. The best football betting sites in the UK price Middlesbrough at 7/5 to claim all three points in South Wales.
