Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed the club has successfully ed Dani Olmo, as they are finally back to the 1:1 rule for Financial Fair Play.

La Liga giants Barcelona failed to free up enough funds to summer gs Olmo and Pau Victor by 31st December, causing La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to de- them. The Blaugrana quickly appealed against the decision, and after two failed attempts, Spain’s top sports court, the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), granted them a temporary registration.

As a result, they were available in the Supercopa de Espana final against Real Madrid. Olmo even came off the bench as Barcelona inflicted a 5-2 defeat upon their arch-rivals on 12th January.

Although Olmo played in the Supercopa de Espana final, his future had been up in the air, as CSD had only granted him a temporary registration. Barca president Laporta has now put all uncertainties to bed, confirming the club have secured the right to spend as much as they make (1:1) and ed Olmo.

He said (via Fabrizio Romano):

We are now back to the 1:1 rule for Financial Fair Play, we can sign players normally and Olmo is ed.

We have been attacked by land, sea and air from the outside and some from the inside… they have tried to create an ignominious story only to hurt Barcelona.”

Laporta added:

that we took care of the club in a difficult financial situation and we saved the club… now we’re back to totally healthy situation on and off the pitch.

We’ve a new stadium coming soon, we closed the best deal in football merch’s with a record fee from Nike. I can’t allow anyone to take advantage of criticizing Laporta to criticize the team or the club… did anyone really think I was gonna resign for that? No chance.”

He also expressed his desire to extend Ronald Araujo’s contract.

Now we want Ronald Araujo to stay. We hope there’s still room to find a solution, he’s a great guy and player,” Laporta concluded by adding.

Barcelona, bubbling with confidence after the win over Real Madrid, will return to action with the Copa del Rey Round of 16 clash with Real Betis on Wednesday, 15th January.
