Barcelona star Dani Olmo’s entourage is reportedly anxious about the Spaniard’s future ahead of the registration deadline.

La Liga giants Barcelona signed Olmo for a €55 million (£45.6 million) fee from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in August 2024. The Blaugrana tied Olmo down to a long-term contract, with it running until 30th June 2030.

However, after failing to adhere to Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and suring their allotted wage cap, Barca could only Olmo until the 31st of December. They hoped to get their hands on more funds and Olmo for the second half of the campaign before the deadline.

Last week, Barcelona went to court to challenge the La Liga governing body and Olmo for the second half of the 2024-25 season. However, the court sided with La Liga and denied their request. On Monday, 30th December, another court rejected Barcelona’s appeal, leaving them scrambling for solutions. As per La Liga, the court denied Olmo’s precautionary registration as “none of the conditions necessary for the adoption of the precautionary measure were met.”

If the Blaugrana cannot Olmo by 1st January, Hansi Flick will not be able to call upon the player from 2025.

Dani Olmo’s Entourage Sweating Over Barcelona Registration

Olmo trained alongside his Barcelona teammates on Tuesday morning — the final day of his ed stint — not knowing whether or not he would be able to represent the club in 2025. Olmo has not yet spoken out about his future, but according to Spanish outlet Diario AS, his entourage is very nervous about his registration.

If Barcelona fail to make Olmo a part of their roster, the 26-year-old would have the right to leave the club as a free agent. Several European sides, including Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United are reportedly interested in g Olmo in January.

Barca understandably do not want to lose Olmo for free, as it would not only be a massive financial loss but also hurt their sporting project. The La Liga aspirants are thus desperately exploring multiple options and are hopeful of completing the EURO 2024 winner’s registration.

Olmo has played 15 games for Barcelona in all competitions so far. He has scored six goals and provided an assist.
