Aston Villa Vs Manchester City Report

Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 as the faltering champions suffered their sixth defeat in their last eight Premier League outings.

Pep Guardiola’s side were under the cosh in the opening minutes at Villa Park as Stefan Ortega made a couple of fine stops early on.

With 16 minutes on the clock, Jhon Duran swept home to give Unai Emery’s side a deserved lead. In the second-half, Morgan Rogers netted to give the home side some breathing space.

Rogers was almost unplayable at times and could and probably should have scored more. Nonetheless, Emery’s men held on for all three points despite Phil Foden’s injury-time effort.

That victory moves Villa up to fifth place in England’s elite going into the Boxing Day clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park.

Aston Villa Vs Man City Highlights

Manchester City‘s form is a huge cause for concern going into Christmas. The latest defeat means it is now just one win in their last eight Premier League outings.

The only victory in that run came against Nottingham Forest on December 4. Despite recently g a contract extension, manager Pep Guardiola is really starting to feel the heat.

If City don’t stop the rot soon, his long-term future at the Etihad will come under serious question. The faltering champions seem to have no answers to halt their disastrous form.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are right back in the mix after their superb win. Morgan Rogers starred as his MOTM performance wowed the Villa Park faithful.
