Arsenal Vs West Ham Highlights

Arsenal are still eight points behind Liverpool after the Gunners blew the chance to make up ground on the Merseysiders on Saturday afternoon.

Jarrod Bowen scored the only goal of the game to gift the Hammers a priceless three points at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta’s side also saw Myles Lewis-Skelly sent off after a VAR call.

Now, Arne Slot’s side have the chance to move 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table. If they can beat Man City at the Etihad on Sunday.

From the North Londoners perspective, the latest loss leaves a sour taste after recent victories over Leicester and the Cityzens.

The Reds failed to get going and were punished one minute before the break. Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross wasn’t dealt with as Bowen headed home.

Lewis-Skelly was introduced on the 56th minute and didn’t even last 20 minutes before he was dismissed. Originally, the academy graduate was booked for fouling Mohammed Kudus.

However, VAR intervened and the original decision was upgraded to a red. It was the second time in as many months that the defender has been given his marching orders.

In the 1-0 victory against Wolves, Myles-Skelly was given an early bath for a trip some 70 yards from goal. On that occasion, his appeal was successful so no suspension was served.

Arteta’s men struggled to recover and Graham Potter was able to deliver a masterful victory. It’s just the second win under his stewardship since taking the helm in January.

As it stands, the East Londoners remain in 16th but are 13 points above the drop zone. Up next is a home game against Leicester on Thursday. Arsenal have a trip to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
