Newcastle head to the English capital to take on Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Tuesday, and we’ve got the latest team news and predicted lineups, as well as a prediction alongside our preview.

Arsenal vs Newcastle Carabao Cup Preview

In-form duo Arsenal and Newcastle face off in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie at the Emirates on Tuesday night, where the Gunners will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to 14 straight matches, while the Magpies look to make it seven wins on the bounce across all competitions.

Mikel Arteta’s side are unbeaten since their Champions League league phase defeat to Inter in early November, most recently being held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton at the weekend despite leading for the best part of 45 minutes.

Prior to Saturday’s stalemate, Arsenal had won four matches in succession, including wins over Crystal Palace, Ipswich and Brentford in the league, as well as their 3-2 triumph over Palace in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners were trailing after just four minutes in that one, with Jean-Philippe Mateta handing the Eagles an early lead, but a second half hat-trick courtesy of Gabriel Jesus proved to be enough to seal their spot in the final four.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have won each of their last six matches, keeping clean sheets in four, with their most recent outing ending in a 2-1 win over Tottenham, in which in-form pair Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak were on the scoresheet.

Other wins throughout their impressive recent run have come over Leicester, Ipswich, Aston Villa and Manchester United in the league, along with a 3-1 win over Brentford last time out in the cup.

Tuesday’s meeting will be the second time that Arsenal and Newcastle have met this term, with their Premier League meeting at St. James’ Park in early November ending 1-0 in favour of Eddie Howe’s side.

Arsenal Team News

In of injuries, Arsenal remain without Ben White (knee), Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee), Raheem Sterling (knee) and Bukayo Saka (thigh), while Kai Havertz (illness) and their goalscorer on Saturday, Ethan Nwaneri (muscular), are doubts.

Elsewhere, the Gunners are able to welcome back Jurrien Timber after the Dutchman missed out on the trip to the Amex through suspension, and Neto is ineligible due to being cup-tied.

Newcastle Team News

As for Newcastle, Callum Wilson (thigh), Emil Krafth (shoulder), Jamaal Lascelles (knee) and Nick Pope (knee) are ruled out through injury, and Fabian Schar and Bruno Guimaraes miss out through suspension.

Sven Botman (fatigue) and Anthony Gordon (nose) both suffered injuries in the win over Spurs at the weekend, however they aren’t expected to miss out on the trip to the Emirates on Tuesday.

Arsenal vs Newcastle Predicted Lineups

Arsenal vs Newcastle Carabao Cup Prediction

The UK’s best football betting sites are heavily favouring Arsenal to prevail against Newcastle in the first leg, but based on recent form, we at SportsCasting are backing a score draw in this one.

As previously mentioned, both sides are currently enjoying impressive unbeaten runs across all competitions, which makes it hard to against either of them, especially when rotations are likely.

Newcastle came out on top in the pair’s most recent clash, and although we don’t envisage another win for the Magpies on Tuesday, we believe that they’ll frustrate the Gunners with a 1-1 draw, leaving it all to play for in the second leg.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Newcastle
