Arsenal One Win Away From Becoming Second Team In History To Win 2000 Matches In England’s Top Division

Arsenal can become the second team in history to win 2000 matches in England’s top division as the Gunners face Bournemouth on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s side have made a superb start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, picking up 17 points from the opening seven matches (5W & 2D).
This has extended their record to 1999 wins in England’s top flight, including wins before the Premier League began in 1992.
Beating Bournemouth on Saturday evening would not only move them to first in the table, but also seal their 2000th win – a record that is only bettered by Liverpool.
Arteta has contributed with 108 of these victories since taking the job as Arsenal manager and interestingly, the Spaniard’s first game in charge was an away trip to Bournemouth in December 2019.
Meaning the 42-year-old can secure the 2000th win for Arsenal in the same fixture that he began his career as a professional manager.
One of the biggest contributors to these wins for Arsenal was Arsene Wenger as the Frenchman won 476 wins in 828 Premier League matches – winning three league titles in the process.
As previously mentioned, Liverpool are the only side to pick up 2000+ wins in England’s elite league as the Reds have won 2065 games in 4331 matches.
Additionally, only two other teams (alongside Arsenal) have won 1900+ matches in England’s top division, with Manchester United picking up 1908 and Everton sitting on 1900.
