Manchester United are leading the race to sign £70 million-rated Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.

Antoine Semenyo transfer news: ‘Big irer’ Ruben Amorim already making plans

It is believed Bournemouth rate the Ghana international at around £70 million, likely to include a lower fixed fee with rising add-ons.

United are the frontrunners for his signature at this stage, but competition will be fierce and the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also expected to show interest.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is a ‘big irer’ of the player and has already formed ideas of how to deploy the 25-year-old in a new-look United attack next season.

Semenyo has been a constant threat from the start of the campaign, recording the most shots by any player in the Premier League (113) – while ranking fifth in shots on target (37) and third in dribbles completed (62).

With eight goals and four assists in 31 starts, Semenyo’s quality has caught the eye of England’s top dogs and his unique, aggressive two-pronged approach provides a spark any manager would love to utilise.

58.6% of his shots on goal have been with his left foot compared to 41.4% with his right and by threatening in both directions, this element gives opposing defenders a peculiar headache.

Since the start of the 2023-24 season, Semenyo is one of four in the Premier League to have scored at least eight goals with both his right and left.

No player in England’s top-flight has more carries leading to shots than Semenyo this season (36), well clear of Mohamed Salah (29) and Savinho (25) in behind.

United look in desperate need of a dynamic threat going forward as their struggles in front of goal continue. Combined, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho have recorded ten more shots than Semenyo by himself.

With the growing belief that Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony will all depart the club on a permanent basis this summer, funds should be readily available to upgrade in the attacking department.

Semenyo ed Bournemouth in January 2023 for £10.5 million from Championship outfit Bristol City and still has four years remaining on his contract after putting pen to paper on a new deal last year.
