Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended by the PGMOL pending further investigation, and a resurfaced video has shown Liverpool defender Andy Robertson launching a rant against the official.
David Coote has been suspended by the PGMOL pending further investigation after a leaked video allegedly showed the Premier League referee referring to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp in a derogatory manner.
Coote allegedly mentions two fixtures in the leaked video, one being a 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Burnley at Anfield in July 2020, and a resurfaced video shows Reds defender Andy Robertson raging at the official following the full-time whistle after being denied a penalty late on.
The draw meant that Liverpool had dropped points at home for the first time that season, however it ended up making little difference as Klopp’s side went on to lift the Premier League title.
Caught by cameras on the television, Robertson is heard saying: “How’s that not a penalty is a disgrace. How the f*** is that not a penalty? You didn’t see f****** anything.
“You didn’t see anything the whole game apart from f**king booking them in the last minute.
“F**k me, what’s the point in having you in the middle? What’s the point in having you? Eh? F**k me. Honestly.”

A video from another angle shows Trent Alexander-Arnold berating the referee too.
The right-back can be heard saying: “How the f**k’s that not a foul? The echoed around the f**king stadium!”

Coote is also alleged to have mentioned Liverpool’s 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa in October 2020 in the leaked video as well, and appears to show a photo of him standing alongisde Klopp and former Reds midfielder James Milner.
He is then alleged to have called Klopp a “German c**t” before going on to describe one of Liverpool’s performances as “s**t”.
The PGMOL confirmed Coote’s immediate suspension in a statement on Monday. It read: “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”
