Italian side AC Milan have offered a lifeline to outcast Barcelona star Dani Olmo after his club were unable to him for the second half of the La Liga season.

Milan have reportedly been in with Olmo’s entourage regarding a six-month loan deal.

The move – if it goes ahead – would allow Olmo to keep playing at the highest level, while giving Barca time to sort their finances out and Olmo ahead of next season.

Barcelona have landed themselves and Dani Olmo in trouble after a court ruled they could not him for the remainder of the season due to failing to meet the La Liga wage cap.

Olmo ed the Catalan club over the summer from RB Leipzig for about £50m.

The player is reportedly desperate to remain at Barcelona but has been forced to consider his options after losing a registration appeal.

There is the option of mutually terminating Olmo’s contract, but neither the player nor the club wish to do so.

AC Milan Could Be Perfect Solution For Dani Olmo

With Olmo and Barca not keen on a permanent exit for the Spanish international, a short-term loan might be an ideal solution.

AC Milan’s offer – as reported by Spanish outlet Corriere de la sera, seems to be a sensible one.

Olmo would continue to play Champions League football and compete at a top club in a major European league.

He would then be free to return to Barcelona in June, with the club able to him for next season.

It is not yet clear if Olmo or Barcelona are going to accept Milan’s offer. But it does seem like the most viable solution to a ridiculous situation – one which should never have been allowed to happen.

If Olmo does AC Milan on loan, it will bring an end to an embarrassing and unnecessary fiasco.
