World Series of Poker Launches New Online Platform, Adds Third US State

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has launched a new, real-money online platform and will add a third U.S. state to its network pool for the first time in history to expand the annual summer event of tournaments.

Poker players in Michigan are ing those in New Jersey and Nevada, the WSOP announced on Saturday. A total of 30 online bracelet tournaments in those states were added to the Caesars Entertainment-sponsored series.

This move makes WSOP the first poker operator to pool liquidity across three U.S. jurisdictions.

“This platform upgrade is long overdue and is a big win for our players,” said Danielle Barille, vice president of online poker at Caesars Digital.

“The best is yet to come for WSOP Online tournaments, and we’re thrilled to bring Michigan players into the fold with Nevada and New Jersey, resulting in a better experience, more value, and the biggest prize pools of the year.”

Furthermore, the original WSOP.com website has been rebranded into WSOP Online. The new technology implemented is compatible with four-table capabilities on the mobile app. It includes Omaha, multi-flight re-entry tournaments, in-app gift drops, and exciting game derivatives.

WSOP Online is expected to feature new promotions and weekly tournaments. Pre-registration for Nevada and New Jersey players lasted through the weekend. In fact, the older platform was available for s until Monday.

Current players are now required to the new version and create a name. Rewards points, existing balances, and tournament tickets will be transferred within 72 hours of the new platform’s launch.

55th WSOP begins May 28 in Las Vegas

Moreover, the 55th World Series of Poker begins May 28 in Las Vegas. This year’s event will allow poker players in Nevada, New Jersey, and Michigan to compete online.

The summer series runs June 1 through July 21. Of course, competition for a gold bracelet runs every Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The mobile site will host a Triple Treys No Limit Hold’em event celebrating the pro basketball championship series and a new WSOP Online Championship on July 11.

Additionally, 25-seat Main Event mega satellites will be held June 30 and July 3. WSOP Online will hold five high-roller, hybrid-format events on June 10 and June 29 with the final tables playing live in Las Vegas in July. The high-roller gold bracelet buy-ins range from $3,200 up to $10,000.

The World Series of Poker was founded in Las Vegas in 1970. Benny Binion played a key role in its establishment and popularization.

Inspiration for the poker tournament came from a 1969 event called the Texas Gamblers Reunion. It was an event sponsored by Tom Moore of Castle Hills, Texas, and held at the Holiday Hotel and Casino in Reno.
