Caitlin Clark might have left Iowa, but her legend still grows. During a recent interview with David Letterman, Clark spoke about a famous scrimmage where she scored 22 points in two minutes.

On the latest episode of Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Letterman asked Clark about a scrimmage where Clark and her Iowa teammates faced the men’s practice team.
After being down 15 points, Clark went on an epic scoring run by herself.
“We make a couple threes to get it to 10,” Clark said. “So I think I had 22 points in two minutes, was the moral of the story.”
In the video, Clark hits several 3-pointers from NBA range. It’s one of the most impressive shooting displays you’ll ever see from a player.
Even Clark itted that she was “shocked” after her fifth 3-pointer in a row.
Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes won the scrimmage, a fact she likes to remind the male practice players.
“Our boy practice players didn’t hear the end of it,” Clark told Letterman. “They still don’t. Like, I still love to bring it up to them. We talk a lot of crap.”

Clark’s Herculean effort that day has been referred to by many as “The Scrimmage.”
ESPN’s Wright Thompson wrote about this famous scrimmage in a March 2024 profile of Clark.
“She had seven 3s and a floater to tie at the buzzer,” Iowa’s former associate head coach Jan Jensen said about the scrimmage.
The Scrimmage happened on Oct. 20, 2021, 15 days before the start of Clark’s sophomore season.
Later that year, Clark scored 21 points in six minutes to get Iowa back into a game against Michigan, though the Hawkeyes eventually lost.
Clark eventually became the Division I women’s career and single-season leader in points and three-pointers.
Clark is now a point guard for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever.
