Netflix has released the trailer forUntold: The Fall of Favre, a documentary chronicling two scandals involving Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre.
Untold: The Fall Of Favre Trailer
“Brett Favre was a cult-like, iconic figure,” says a voiceover in the trailer for The Fall of Favre.
Favre became a god on the football field with his rocket arm, fearless attitude, and a gunslinger mentality.
Favre led the Green Bay Packers to a victory in Super Bowl XXXI. Favre’s historic 20-year career ended with a gold jacket, as the talented quarterback was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
“There are a lot of reasons why you might question Brett Favre’s inner goodness,” says NFL writer Peter King.
Beyond the football field, Favre found himself embroiled in two controversial scandals.
The first came in 2008 while Favre played quarterback for the New York Jets. Former New York Jets Gameday host Jenn Sterger claimed Favre sent her “lewd texts and photos.”
“Brett Favre ultimately destroyed my life,” Sterger said in the documentary.
The second black eye on Favre’s resume is his involvement in a federal welfare misappropriation scandal.
“You take money intended for the poorest. I don’t know how he sleeps at night,” says an interviewee in the trailer.

Rebecca Gitlitz directed The Fall of Favre. In a statement released to Netflix, Gitlitz explained why she signed on for the project.
“[The Fall of Favre] felt like the worlds were aligning,” Gitlitz said. “This story about one of the greatest quarterbacks in history goes beyond touchdowns and epic wins and lifts the lid on how, when fame rises, sometimes ability falls. It was made with the intention of laying out patterns of behaviors, told by the people who lived with the consequences of Favre’s actions, to ask audiences to consider if success should be a shield for harmful behavior.”
Executive producers include Gitlitz, Ian Orefice, Jonna McLaughlin, Amanda Spain, Dave O’Connor, Loren Hammonds, Jon Wertheim, A.J. Perez, Ben Silverman, Howard Owens, Chapman Way, and Maclain Way.
EverWonder Studio, Front Office Sports, and Time Studios are producers of the project.
The Fall of Favre premieres on Netflix on May 20.
