After two standout years at Grand Canyon, Tyon Grant-Foster is back in the transfer portal and has become one of the most sought-after players available. Gonzaga and Washington are now considered the top contenders to land him. Arizona State is also in the mix but viewed more as a secondary option right now.

In 2023–24, Grant-Foster was dominant, averaging 20.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. He was named WAC Player of the Year and helped lead GCU to a conference title and NCAA Tournament berth. Though his production dropped slightly last season — 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds — he remained one of the most consistent two-way wings in the country.

At 6’7”, 210 lbs, Grant-Foster is a high-level athlete with a college-ready frame. He’s physical on defense, attacks the rim relentlessly, and isn’t afraid of . The main knock has been his shooting — just 23% from deep last season — but he brings so much else that high-majors are still lining up to sign him. Given how thin the portal is now, his stock has never been higher.

Is Tyon Grant-Foster Transferring to Gonzaga or Washington?

Both programs are going all-in. Washington has been aggressive on the NIL front and are promising a big role from day one. Grant-Foster would immediately become one of their top scoring threats.

NIL, Washington has a real shot.

Tyon Grant-Foster Not Expected to Enter 2025 NBA Draft

Despite his age and past pro interest, Grant-Foster is unlikely to enter the NBA Draft. He’s already 25 years old and has dealt with major health issues in the past, including multiple heart surgeries that nearly ended his career. After missing two seasons, he’s now fully healthy and looking to finish strong. Another year of college — especially at a high-major — gives him a better chance to boost his value with scouts and prove he can hold up over a full season.

He’s clearly good enough to play professionally, but the draft is loaded with younger wings and more athletic prospects. Returning to school gives him more leverage and more exposure — especially if he plays in a Power 5 conference and goes deep in March.

Tyon Grant-Foster Career Stats and College Basketball Journey

Grant-Foster’s college path has been anything but conventional. He started at Indian Hills Community College and dominated, then transferred to Kansas where he played sparingly. A short stint at DePaul followed, but health issues cut his time there short. After a two-year recovery, he signed with Grand Canyon and finally put everything together.

  • 2023–24 (GCU): 20.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.6 SPG, 46.2% FG, 29% 3PT
  • 2024–25 (GCU): 14.8 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 1.3 SPG, 42.5% FG, 23% 3PT

Across those two seasons, he averaged 17.8 points and 5.5 rebounds while defending multiple positions and playing heavy minutes. He’s one of the best wings in the country when healthy. His age is a factor, but it also makes him one of the most experienced players in the portal.

Where Will Tyon Grant-Foster Play in 2025–26?

Grant-Foster hasn’t announced a decision date, but he’s expected to commit soon. For now, it’s a two-team race between Spokane and Seattle — and one of them is about to land one of the most intriguing transfers in the country.
