The Jacksonville Jaguars have picked up the fifth-year option on defensive end Travon Walker. See how this move affects Walker’s contract below.

Jaguars Pick Up Travon Walker’s Fifth-Year Option

The 2022 No. 1 overall pick will be in Jacksonville for the foreseeable future.

By picking up Walker’s fifth-year option, Walker will be under contract with the Jaguars through the 2026 season.

Walker had a rocky rookie season, recording only 3.5 sacks.

Considering the three picks after Walker (Aidan Hutchinson, Houston’s Derek Stingley Jr., and New York’s Sauce Gardner) have all made Pro Bowls, many draft experts started to believe Jacksonville took the wrong player.

Walker has been much better in the two seasons since his rookie year. Walker had 10 sacks in 2023 and 10.5 sacks in 2024.

Highest Paid NFL Edge Rushers

Josh Hines-Allen JAX $28.25 million

Per Over The Cap, Walker’s fully guaranteed fifth-year option is projected to be $14.75 million in 2026.

That number is outside of the top 10 highest-paid NFL edge rushers.

Las Vegas signed Maxx Crosby to a massive extension this offseason worth $35.5 million annually.

That was the record until Cleveland’s Myles Garrett became the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history with $40 million per year.

Houston’s Danielle Hunter also ed Crosby’s value thanks to his extension, putting him at $35.6 million annually.

Walker’s teammate, Josh Hines-Allen, is the fifth-highest-paid edge rusher in the NFL at $28.25 million annually.
