TJ Finley is in the transfer portal. Again. The veteran quarterback announced his latest move after a suspension at Tulane following an arrest related to a stolen vehicle. It’s his sixth college stop—after LSU, Auburn, Texas State, Western Kentucky, and Tulane—and fans online didn’t hold back with memes and burns galore on social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).

Memes, Jokes, and Job Applications Follow Finley Portal Announcement

Social media quickly turned Finley’s announcement into a roast session. Finley’s name trended as s suggested he’s used up every eligibility loophole ( he still has two years of eligibility remaining) and might be better off pursuing full-time work outside football.

One of the highlights of this impromptu social media roast was fans giving Finley an idea for his next destination, with the landing spot being ‘LinkedIn State.’

One meme had WWE’s Triple H pointing to an Indeed logo, implying Finley should start applying for jobs.

Another used the 20th Century Fox intro template, replacing it with “McDonald’s,” mocking his job prospects.

Another viral tweet quoted a line from Tommy Boy, where Chris Farley’s character is reminded that “a lot of people go to college for seven years.”

Finley’s case isn’t far off. He’s bounced across five programs, started at multiple stops, and keeps finding new places to land. But after the Tulane arrest and with few programs desperate for a QB, many fans think the clock’s finally run out.

The Numbers—and the Baggage

Finley threw for 3,439 yards and 24 touchdowns at Texas State in 2023, completing nearly 68% of his es. Over his career, he’s totaled 6,129 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions.

Still, questions around leadership, legal issues, and locker room fit continue to follow him. Wherever he ends up next, he’ll have to answer more than just defensive pressure.
