Stanley Cup Odds: No Clear Betting Favorite For Panthers vs. Oilers Series

For the second straight season, the Florida Panthers will take on the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals. Florida was victorious last season and have been red-hot during their current playoff run, but when it comes to the odds for the championship series, there is no clear favorite according to the oddsmakers.
No Clear Betting Favorite For 2025 Stanley Cup Finals
Florida finished with the 5th-most points in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, but were one of the favorites to win it all when the playoffs began. They made quick work of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, and came back from an 0-2 deficit to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Eastern Semis.
In the five games that they played in the Conference Finals, the Panthers outscored the Carolina Hurricanes by a combined score of 21-10, which included a 3-0 loss. In all of their 17 playoff games, they’re outscored their opponents by a tally of 66-39.

But despite their dominance, the Panthers are not favored in this year’s Stanley Cup. They’re currently listed as underdogs, though only slightly.
The Oilers have one of the best one-two punches in the sport in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and have been rather dominant in their own right this postseason. They’ve lost just four games in the three series that they’ve played, and are 12-2 in their last 14 contests.
Edmonton lost just one game in each of the last two series, and those defeats came by a combined four goals.

And while the Oilers are a favorite, the margin couldn’t be much smaller. According to DraftKings sportsbook, Edmonton will enter the Stanley Cup Finals with a betting designation of -115, while the Panthers will be listed at -105.
The line for last year’s series between the two sides was similar, though not quite as close. In 2024, the Panthers entered as the favorites, carrying a -140 designation. It looked like they’d make quick work of the Oilers, who came in at +120, as Florida went up 3-0 early on. But Edmonton stretched the series to seven games, making for one of the more memorable Stanley Cup Finals in recent history.
