Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb suffered a debilitating knee injury last season. Will Chubb be ready to start the 2024 season?

Browns RB Nick Chubb Will Start Season On Reserve/PUP List

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chubb will begin the season on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Chubb’s inclusion on the list means the Browns running back will miss at least the first four games of the 2024 season.

Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season.

Chubb needed two surgeries to repair his medial capsule, meniscus, MCL, and ACL.

The Chubb move should not be a surprise, considering the running back continues to rehab the knee injury. However, the Browns expect Chubb to return at some point during the 2024 season.

Entering the 2023 season, Chubb was widely considered one of the five best running backs in the NFL. From 2018 through 2022, Chubb rushed for at least 996 yards each season, with four campaigns suring 1,000 yards.

In 2022, Chubb was named second-team All-Pro, rushing for a career-high 1,525 yards.

Browns RBs: Who Will Start For Chubb?

With Chubb out for at least one month, who will the Browns turn to at running back?

Jerome Ford is the favorite to lead the Browns’ backfield once the season begins. Ford rushed for 813 yards and four touchdowns in 2023.

Running backs Pierre Strong and D’Onta Foreman are also expected to receive touches in the Browns’ backfield.
