Sam Darnold’s story was perhaps the biggest surprise of the 2025 NFL season. After struggling to find his footing during his first six years in the league, the 27-year-old found plenty of success after being named the starter for the Minnesota Vikings. He finished in the top-5 in the league in yards and touchdown es, and led his team to a record of 14-3 while qualifying for his first Pro Bowl.

Seahawks vs. Vikings Set For Nov. 30th

At the expiration of his one-year contract, the Vikings opted against bringing Darnold back on an expensive and long-term deal. He instead signed with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency, and is hoping to make good on a three-year contract worth roughly $100 million.

In his first year with his new team, Darnold will get the chance at a revenge game against the team that let him walk.

Because they both finished in second place in their divisions in 2024, the Vikings and the Seahawks will play against one another this coming season. During the NFL schedule release last week, it was revealed that the game will take place the weekend after Thanksgiving, specifically on Sunday, November 30th.

Darnold’s first game of the season will come against one of his old teams, as well. He received very little playing time during the 2023 campaign as a member of the 49ers, playing backup to Brock Purdy and while starting in just one game. But he’ll get the chance to play against San Francisco twice each year by being in the same division, and the 49ers will come to Seattle for Week 1 of 2025.

Like Darnold, the Seahawks had a surprisingly solid season in 2024. After entering the year with a win projection of 8, they ended up with a 10-7 record but just barely missed out on the postseason. They’ve undergone a pretty serious change this offseason, as they traded Geno Smith to the Raiders in order to bring in Darnold as the new starter.

The projections are roughly the same for the year. According to the DraftKings sportsbook, the Seahawks have an over/under win total of 8.5 for 2025.
