The NFL is heading back to Brazil in the 2025 season. The Los Angeles Chargers will host play as the designated team.

NFL Returns To Brazil For Week 1 Game

The NFL announced Wednesday that the Chargers will host a game on Friday night of Week 1 of the 2025 regular season. The game will be played on Sept. 5, 2025.

The game will be played in São Paulo at Corinthians Arena, the home of the soccer team SC Corinthians.

This marks the second consecutive year the NFL will play a Week 1 Friday night game in Brazil.

Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers played in the NFL’s first regular-season game in Brazil inside Corinthians Arena. The Eagles won the game 34-29 thanks to Saquon Barkley’s three touchdowns.

As part of the 2025 International Games, the Los Angeles Chargers will play as the designated team in São Paulo at Corinthians Arena, home to Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, on Friday night of Week 1 of the 2025 regular season.

“It’s an honor to once again represent the NFL on an international stage,” said Chargers President of Business Operations A.G. Spanos in a statement. “It’s also a tremendous opportunity to help grow the game and bring the Chargers brand to millions of sports fans across Brazil and Latin America. One of the great countries of the world, Brazil is as vibrant, dynamic and culturally diverse as anywhere on the planet and we cannot wait to experience the warmth and ion of its people during our visit.”

The Chargers will play one of nine possible opponents: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders, Texans, Colts, Eagles, Commanders, Steelers, and Vikings.

The exact opponent and time of the game will be announced during the NFL’s full schedule reveal this spring.

The NFL can now schedule up to eight international games per season.

The NFL already has one 2026 international game on the regular-season schedule.

The Los Angeles Rams will play a 2026 regular-season game in Melbourne, Australia.
