NFL Draft 2025 Odds: Saints Are Favorites To Pick Shedeur Sanders

Shedeur Sanders represents one of the biggest question marks heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. He was at one time considered a possibility to be selected first overall, but his stock has taken a dip in recent months, and it is mostly unknown exactly how he is viewed by teams picking in the top half of the first round.
Could Saints Select Shedeur Sanders 9th Overall?
But according to the betting odds, it is the New Orleans Saints who are the current favorites to select the Colorado product.
There was a time when Sanders and Miami quarterback Cam Ward were thought of as equal NFL prospects. But during workout and interview processes, Ward has separated himself. He is now a heavy favorite to be the first overall pick when draft night rolls around, and Sanders is now mostly considered to be on a tier below.
Questions arose when he had private meetings with teams during and around the NFL Combine, and his Pro Day left plenty to be desired. Teams like the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders have already made moves to fill their quarterback vacancies, but there are still some franchises that will be in position to select a signal caller on April 24th.

According to the oddsmakers, the New Orleans Saints are the ones that are most likely to take the risk on Sanders. They currently have a designation of +300 in the category, which is followed closely by the Giants at +350. The Steelers (+600), Browns (+600), and Jets (+1000) round out the top-5.
The Saints currently hold the rights to the 9th overall pick. They also have a veteran quarterback in place who is likely to start the NFL season. Derek Carr is entering his third year with New Orleans and likely his last, and the team could be on the hunt for a QB prospect that can take over when Carr departs. Given their draft position and the outlook on Sanders by the teams picking before them, a pairing between the two sides makes plenty of sense.
Shedeur Sanders put up big numbers last year while playing for Colorado. He led the Big 12 in every important statistical category including yards, touchdowns, and er rating, and was the most accurate quarterback in the nation while completing 74% of all of his throws.
