No matter what the Bears do in the NFL Draft, the team’s best decision arguably came earlier this year when they hired Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
The Bears entered 2024 as one of the sleeper teams to make the playoffs. However, Chicago failed to live up to expectations, finishing 5-12.
The Bears also fired Matt Eberflus the day after the team’s Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions.
The Bears have seven draft picks, including three in the top 41.

Offensive Line
The most important task for Johnson is to protect second-year quarterback Caleb Williams.
The 2024 No. 1 pick struggled mightily in year one.
The Chicago Bears did a horrible job protecting Williams, allowing a league-high 68 sacks.
The Bears already added linemen Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson, and Drew Dalman this offseason. If one of the top two tackles slips to No. 10, Chicago must consider going lineman with their first-round selection.
Running Back
Look at what Johnson did in Detroit with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.
Detroit’s version of Sonic and Knuckles formed the best 1-2 punch in the league.
Johnson’s offense needs a solid ground game to set up the play action.
D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson currently make up the Bears’ backfield. If Johnson likes a running back in a loaded draft, then he will take one.
Edge Rusher
Montez Sweat is the top guy on the edge for the Bears’ defense.
The Bears ranked 16th in sacks last season with 40.0.
Grady Jarrett, Dayo Odeyingbo, Andrew Billings, and Gervon Dexter Sr. make up the rest of the defensive line. However, the Bears could use another dynamic edge rusher to pair with Sweat.
2025 NFL Mock Draft: Bears

- Round 2: No. 39 (from Carolina) – Oregon OT Josh Conerly Jr.
- Round 2: No. 41 – Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins
- Round 3: No. 72 – Michigan edge Josaiah Stewart
- Round 5: No. 148 – USC CB Jaylin Smith
- Round 7: No. 233 (from Cincinnati) – Iowa OG Connor Colby
- Round 7: No. 240 (from Minnesota through Cleveland) – South Carolina LB Bam Martin-Scott
