NFL Draft 2025: 3 Teams Who Could Trade Up For QB Tyler Shough In Round 1

One of the 2025 NFL Draft prospects who has seen a boost in their stock is Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough.
Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders will almost certainly be the first quarterbacks off of the board in the first round on April 24th, but the prospects at the position are a toss up after that. Guys like Jaxon Dart and Jalen Milroe have been garnering plenty of attention, and have widely been projected as early second round picks.
Tyler Shough Could Be A 1st Round Pick In The 2025 NFL Draft
Shough is seeing his name rise up big boards as well. The 25-year-old spent seven seasons at the collegiate level, and some teams believe that he is the most NFL ready of the second-tier QBs. Scouts have said they like his mechanics and accuracy, and there are draft experts who are saying that he could be a surprise first round selection.
The backend of the first round is full of teams that are set at quarterback, meaning a team interested in selecting Tyler Shough in the first round would likely have to trade up. Which teams are candidates to do so?

Cleveland Browns
Cleveland can answer their quarterback question and select a generational talent, all in the first round. They hold the rights to the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and are the favorites to select Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter with the selection.
The Browns could then finish off Day 1 by moving back up into the first round. They could, for example, send their second round pick (33rd overall) and a third-rounder (94th overall) to the Washington Commanders in exchange for the 29th selection.
New Orleans Saints
New Orleans is the favorite to select Shedeur Sanders, and would do so with the 9th overall pick. But if they on him and select another position of need, or if another team jumps in front to pick the Colorado product, then they’d have to answer their quarterback question another way.
The Saints have enough draft capital to trade up if need be, including 6 picks within the first four rounds. They could move up 8 to 10 spots from their 40th overall pick by trading away their second rounder along with something like the 93rd overal pick.
New York Giants
The Giants could be one of the teams interested in selecting a quarterback within the first two rounds this year. Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are in place for 2025, but it is speculated that they could pick a QB who would sit and learn for a year.
But would they want a guy like Shough, who will turn 26 years old around the start of the NFL season? Age is less of an issue at the quarterback position, and Shough could have a 10-12 year career if things go right. If New York feels like he’ll be a starting-caliber player, then it might not matter how old he is.
